leftovers

do you love leftovers or hate them?
i actually think everything tastes better the next day.

so just like all the leftover enchiladas i ate yesterday, i have leftover pics too.
some are just as pretty as the ones i posted yesterday but some of these are a little more real so to speak.  you'll see what i mean.
i've inserted a few captions.
gotta love the holidays!

is that coca-cola on the idyllic table setting?

god i'm so bored.  oh no here she comes with the camera.

is that the finger?

ok, i'll stop now.
today i'm eating salad for sure.

  2. :-D

I recently read one should set aside that 1 portion for the next day. The rest will be plenty and you can be sure you have your leftover the next day.
The best thing about leftovers is the storage. The fridge looks so cute, with all the containers holding good food stacked neatly, I love that sight when I open the fridge. It is ... very comforting. Maybe because it manifests the work I have done (=cooking)
Speaking of leftovers: I just made my first homemade almond-milk ever thanks to your inspirational blog, it was so simple to make and tastes delicious, goes with everything. The leftover (=grinded wet almonds) are in the oven right now. They make a fantastic cookie-dough, I just added a bit of baking powder, cranberries or sultanas, salt and some oil. yummie.

    Have a nice weekend!

  7. happy belated thanksgiving. I like leftovers. before I became a vegetarian I loved turkey sandwiches the next day. haven't had that in years! the after pictures make me giggle because that is real life. it is always fun to aspire to achieve that lovely setting but the people make it more interesting, as do the animals. have a fun weekend!

  8. Love the leftovers-especially stuffing and cranberry.
Made stock yesterday as well for soup later in the colder parts of our winter.
Jealous of you all being able to eat OUTSIDE!

  9. I love leftovers so much I think I need to use some florid US - speak to describe:

'Leftovers are insanely awesome, I prefer them to the main meal - for realz. Rad.'

See, sounds more passionate than my English- English, 'yes, Janet, I agree, leftovers really are jolly nice, aren't they?' ;) Boxing Day lunch, full of leftovers is my favourite meal of the entire year. Yum.

Sorry not to have been commenting here more recently, life has been way too hectic, but I love your blog as much as ever, and wish you a somewhat belated but heartfelt happy thanksgiving. xx

  10. I don't mind leftovers at all. The food often tastes better the day after! Is that you son or daughter in the photo's? They both look very fashionable!

    Happy weekend!

  11. My husband makes the BEST Turkey Macaroni with our left overs, not quite your style, but SO delicious!

BTW - I love your little dog! We (actually my daughter) have an utterly adorable miniature wire haired dachshund. Your dog reminds me of Eeva! So cute

  21. I personally love, love leftovers! I will make a big weekend dinner, and then serve it for lunch Monday and dinner Tuesday. I must confess, sometimes nothing tastes better than a coke in a glass bottle! I hope they were from mexico, as it tastes the best!!!
I am glad you had a lovely holiday!

  22. We love Mexican cokes, too! And our dogs browse the table. More importantly, our family also has a *finger tradition.*
We have a great time looking at old pictures and wondering who is REALLY adjusting their glasses, and who is shooting one.
It's a few days late, but I include your blog in my thanksgivings. THANK YOU.

  23. Janet,

Some leftovers are better than others but the best part of leftovers is that it usually means less time in the kitchen and fewer dishes, which my husband is always happy about! Most nights he refers to the pile of dishes from my cooking as "dish mountain".

Love the photos, and the fact that you show it like it is!

  28. By the time I sit down to Thanksgiving dinner, I'm too tired from the preparations to really enjoy the food to the fullest. I've always thought that's why the leftovers taste better - because I'm rested enough to appreciate it more. Looks like you had a great holiday!

  29. The leftover scenes look as good as they did the other day too.

A friend of mine is really in to those Mexicokes. I kind of like them myself.

  30. Came here from the bright owl while surfin' for zentangles. Wow, green grass on Thanksgiving. American Thanksgiving even! our Thanksgiving was 6 weeks ago and today we're -10 Celsius and everything is under a blanket of white. What a lovely "garden break" I've had visiting your blog. Thanks!
