hm florals

So here we are heading into the holidays.  I wish I was feeling better about them.  I know that it really is just another day and not to attach too much meaning to them but...yikes.  Also, it's been 5 years this month since this wedding happened here.  Anyone out there remember this?

Dear reader, I told you I had purchased a few things from H&M and here is one of them.  In my defense...nevermind, I don't have one.  This pretty blouse is $14.99 and feels like Fall.  I think it's pretty and would be perfect for Thanksgiving day.  Take a look at this whole page or beautiful florals.  I'm a fairly new HM shopper so I don't know if they always have these gorgeous prints or if they are just on a roll.  Let me know in the comments ok?  I'll be posting more fashion, food and hopefully something of interest  all month. Wish me luck.  x

  2. Those are gorgeous. I've bought a few pieces from them this year and have been quite impressed. I just bought a soft rose lace knit sweater that is very pretty and would go well with those floral tops. What a gorgeous wedding.

  3. The floral blouse is gorgeous & you wear it well. Perhaps I watched the video of the wedding 5 years ago, but forgot how absolutely gorgeous & well done it was. I love Patsy Cline & I Fall to Pieces is my favorite song of hers. It felt perfect for the video...they are just the cutest couple!

You do have some hard days coming up, but I found that keeping busy & even hosting some holiday gatherings helped me tremendously. But it's not a cure all...you will need to do whatever you need to do in order to get through each one. Even after a year has passed, there will be things you always did with Larry but now must do alone...each one is hard but it does get less painful with each event.

Like most other readers I will lift you in prayer, especially over the holiday season...it's not an easy road to travel.

  4. I do remember that wedding - five years already! Your daughter-in-law looks like a movie star from the 40s - just lovely. Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries all can be difficult. As I always say: do what you can, when you can, let the rest go. Thoughts are with you.

  5. I remember the wedding well- wow, 5 years already! It looked so sweet, sentimental, elegant, and cozy all at the same time. I am a huge H&M fan and yes they usually have gorgeous prints. Love that their clothes are so reasonably priced. Can't wait to see all your upcoming posts- sometimes they are a breath of fresh air! Janet, I will be thinking of you during the holidays. I am glad you will be surrounded by children and grandchildren. You are right- it's just another day but enjoy the bits that you can.

  9. I loved the video; it looked like such a fun day. And you are pretty in the blouse. I worry about buying from H&M and other "fast fashion" sources due to ethical concerns. Sorry to rain on the parade, but prices that low cause alarm bells to ring.

    1. thanks judith. yes that is always a concern. i have so many vintage blouses that i wanted to look for similar ones that a lot of people cannot find in their towns. just an alternative but you bring up a good point. x

  10. I have watched that video countless times! Truly one of a kind!

I don't remember much about the first holidays without my husband. I think I was just in shock since he died suddenly. For me, it's never been the holidays as much as the odd day or the milestone moments for our son. What I have learned is that the tough moments pass and the days get easier somehow. xo

Your floral blouse is so pretty and very autumnal.
Holidays are times for me when I remember those who we have lost...we say grace and mention our loved ones. I hope you’ll be surrounded by family and friends during these difficult times.

  15. HI Janet, I was at the mall today and stopped in at H & M. They only had one blouse left like yours (not in my size) so I opted for the forest green color with the similar print. The guy that waited on me said yours sold out fast. Thanks for sharing! :o)
I remember you had to arrange that wedding in a matter of a few weeks...can't believe that was 5 years ago! I don't know how you managed to do that... It was hard enough planning my daughter's baby shower last month!
