tis the season to layer

Gifted from Everlane

Wherever you live I'm sure your morning dressing consists of layering, whether you'll be indoors or out and about.  The temps are pretty much cold everywhere but indoors can be like a sauna.  Unless you are in my house which is cold all the time.

Even just driving in the car I may have to put on or take off a layer.

So another big thank you to Everlane for giving me these layers.  First is the Loden Cashmere Crew.  As you all know, Everlane's cashmere crew sweaters are the backbone of my fall/winter closet and they have been for years.  They are so soft and cozy and make everything I own look better.  They have tons of cashmere sweaters on sale for $60 right now so pop over and see what you can find.  I've paired it with their straight leg cropped in Sandstone.  99% of all my pants are vintage except their Cheeky Straight Jean and now these.  I feel so fancy! In the Cheeky Jean I wear my regular size 26 but in these I had to size up to a 6.  They are SO comfy and will go with everything I own.  I tied the Alpaca Crew around my shoulders.  The chocolate suede Editor boot and my vintage Gucci bag finished the look and I was off and running.  Thank you Everlane and thank you all for putting up with me.  x

  1. Janet, you gave me a good laugh with your last statement about "putting up with you"!! You are kidding, right?!! It is always such a treat to see a new post from you & I'm enjoying all of your frequent posts. Sometimes when things get so hectic at work, I take a little break & switch over to see if there is a new post from you & it makes my day when there is! Hope you have a lovely day, sweet lady, and hope you get as much pleasure from the comments you receive from your devoted followers as we do from reading your blog! xxoo Katie from Huntington Beach

  2. I love all your posts, whatever the subject. You wear clothes so well!
We all have those pesky taxes to pay!

  3. What property tax do you have to pay in the US? Here in the UK, we pay one, Council Tax and it's calculated on the worth of your home as it was at one point in time (some years ago). This Council Tax covers a number of local services. We pay monthly for ten months of the year.

    1. anna it sounds similar here. property taxes are calculated on the value of the house plus we have other things that can be added through bonds. mostly for school and road improvements and things like that. i pay mine twice a year, april and december. others can have the taxes added to their house payment and that way they pay them slowly over the year.

  4. Hooray! You are dressing like we need to up here in Canada 🇨🇦 for our fall and winters. Cashmere is my go to fabric for sweaters! Good to hear you are receiving a stipend from your Everlane posts! As I said before you could be their brand ambassador.
Our bungalow is frightfully cold in the winter too...cashmere socks are great for keeping my feet toasty.
Hope you are feeling better now.

  5. Whatever you share is always worth reading, Janet. And if you're making an income from what you do then kudos to you. I'm glad the extra money is helping. If your feet are freezing - here's another idea: wool socks from Costco, their Kirkland brand. I bought a pack of 6 pairs for just under $20. They've been a real help for me. I can really tell the difference.

  7. You look fabulous as always. I'm so happy that Everlane is gifting you with these amazing clothes, and sending you some $ as well! You deserve it, and certainly advertise the brand so well. I will splurge one day soon on cashmere (always looking for ways to stay warm) and will check Everlane first.

Love your posts. Never tire of them, silly.

    1. oh colleen they do not pay me any money, it's just the gifted clothing. i want to be more clear with that. i don't know the correct wording but i want to alert readers that the post is sponsored so if they are not interested they can just skip it. i guess i will ask them the proper verbage. and thanks for the vote on costco socks! x

    2. Thanks for clarifying that in this and your newest post. I always appreciate transparency when folks are paid in cash and or goods from sponsors. I'm still glad for whatever they send you. :)

  8. Another great outfit I love it!
I also have to wear 900 layers. So cold here right now but warm inside and of course I'm running around cleaning etc which then means I need to lose more layers.
I ordered some of those alpaca sweaters from Everlane and they are my new favourite, the Pomona green is such a beautiful colour and also a red cardigan, I'm planning to post on them tomorrow. You know I love clothing and wardrobe posts so it's the opposite of putting up with you I love these posts!
Also my pyjamas arrived that I bought because I'm copying you there too. You are a fashion inspiration for us Janet. xxx Thank you!

  9. I love seeing your fashion posts, no matter the source of clothing - and I think you were where I learned of Everlane, I'm grateful for that. I'm busy losing weight (well, busy is a bit of an optimistic description, but it's going) so I've chosen to not purchase anything new- except shoes and underwear - til the spring. I love their shoes and will be shopping with my Christmas gift dollars in the New Year. Glad you've partnered with them, it's always helpful to learn about good businesses with good products. And you look great!

  10. Another vote here for wool socks. I live in cold New England and wear them from October to March. Aside from the warmth, they keep my feet so much softer.

Love your posts and how you make newer items/gifts work with what you already have.
