between

It's that time of year "between" seasons.  Even though the calendar says Fall, the afternoons here are like summer.  So this is what I wear on days like that.  Both feet planted in between seasons.

Today I'm wearing a vintage cotton blouse from my daughter in law's online shop, Sunset Vintage.  She deals mostly in Victorian era clothing but does venture all the way into the 1990's on occasion.

I tied it at the waist and paired it with these vintage boys trousers.  The bag is my Gucci that I got years ago from the Ralph Lauren lookalike at a junk shop on the way to Palm Springs.  The mules are from TopShop but sold out.  But I have similar ones on my sidebar if you are interested.  Overall I think it's a great outfit for between seasons.

I want to focus on this between time for the next few posts if that's ok with you.  xo

  3. Whatever you choose to post about is fine with me! It certainly makes me happy when I see a post from you, and I hope it serves as a distraction for you. Between seasons is challenging...warm one day, cool the next...at least here in the Midwest. Thinking of you all. xo

  5. You look so Katharine Hepburn! Another classic. Yes, it's a tough season, the in-between, whether you're in California or Minnesota.

  7. Ah, yes, the in-between season. Sweaters need to be cardigans that you can slip off as the day heats up. This is the time of year that I keep a lightweight scarf tied to my purse strap. As the day cools off into evening, it's nice to have a scarf to cover your neck, that just a couple of hours ago, was feeling the heat.
Although I don't often comment, I always look forward to your posts, and have said prayers for the two of you. So, please, post whatever is on your mind, because so many of us are touched by your journey.

  10. This semi-tailored grey pant and white shirt combo wearing is lovely. I agree with Betty, you do look beautifully slim. And I think I might have a growing case of hair admiration :), your hair is so lush! It looks great up-swept. So enjoying these posts. They are a treat xo.

  11. Very cute outfit! The pants aren't really boys' slacks, are they? If so, what a brilliant idea. The blouse is summery and the pants autumnal. Great way to span seasons!

  12. Always LOVE seeing a new post from you! You look very chic! My husband & I were just saying that once the heat in July was over, we have had the most lovely summer & now cooler Fall weather at the coast in Huntington Beach so I am starting to transition my wardrobe a bit. Looking forward to more "between time" posts! Keeping good thoughts for you & Larry & sending hugs & lots of love your way. Kathy

  13. So smart - and a cardigan would be perfect for cool mornings or evenings. The light is different in the south east but it is still 90 degrees and higher. This would be a great look even here though because it looks like all the fabrics are light - but the colors definitely speak to the changing of the light.

  15. Love your use of vintage pieces for a stylish unique look. Before I retired after 38 years of teaching, this time of year was hard for me to dress for. It could get so hot and yet in the morning or an air conditioned classroom so cold. I also wanted to wear fall colors and never understood why stores in California had wools and clothing more suited to cooler climates. I love having a very, very light large pashmina at this time of year. In the morning and evening, I wrap myself in it. Madeline

  16. I love that you are focusing on fashion and posting more frequently...thank you!
That outfit looks classic and yet comfy at the same time...and the up do adds that little bit of elegance.

There is a really sweet cream coloured dress on your DIL's site that would look fabulous on you...it has a collar and looks very 1940's...

  17. Love your outfit! And the in between means enjoying the moment of now! I like that. I think your hair adds a classic vintage touch. The handbag was my favorite! I'm carrying a large burnt orange given by my sister years ago.
    Prayers for your family.

  18. I have been away for a week & missed the last few posts. I am happy to see posts for the in between seasons, as I think it is the most difficult time to choose the right thing to wear. I do love the classic look of the outfit you are wearing. But, as others have said, the bottom line is we love all your posts. God speed!

  19. Yeah, where I am further north of you, it's too warm to sleep with a blanket at night but just-a-sheet is not warm enough.

    What we need is RAIN.

Janet, you look so hip and stylish as always. You, the beautiful garden and special cottage; picture-perfect.
