monday monday

as i was setting this shot up to do for jane's flowers in the house post this morning,
i realized how lucky i am that i get this kind of light in my living room/dining room.
it only lasts for a few minutes each morning and i was lucky to catch it today.
the garden is in a restful state at the moment.
the flowers have all been deadheaded and hopefully a new batch will be blooming one more time before summer ends.  so i just cut some greenery and put it in a clear glass vase.

but the real star today is the light.
monday, monday
so good to me.

  8. I think it's so refreshing to hear someone taking such pleasure in the most simple things. Even if the light wasn't shining in, you would make the room glow brightly--Janet's cottage is always a beautiful place to visit. I like the message on your chalkboard too.

  14. You do have beautiful light! I'm so jealous! (As my living room is dreadfully dark, no matter what time of day....) It looks like the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee. (Or a cocktail, or tea or....) Thank you!

  22. Yes - I love it too when the light is just right for that nano-second. Love the room. So funny, this morning in my office one of the women sang out the first line of "Monday, Monday," then another one piped in with the 2nd line, I chimed in with the third, and around the office the song rang! It was a Monday!

  26. Just like you said, I have been given time to think about how we will rebuild our home. I have decided to follow your color scheme very closely, dear Janet! Thank you for being there with your prayers and dedications. I'm sure at the time you never dreamed how significant your blog could be. Thank you alwsys, Suzanne

  27. I think you've got this room nailed, Janet. Including the sunlight which bounces off that warm amber honey wood floor and brings it all to life. I love the calm, simple touches of green--the typical bouquet of flowers almost wouldn't seem right on the table there, today.
Brings to mind another song, Don't Go Changin'..have an awesome day.

  29. Oh and I've wanted to ask..did you buy the chairs slip covered or did you have slip covers made? I have some upholstered chairs that I thought I might look into the cost to have slip covers made.

  31. Hi Janet, for your roses, do you prefer deadheading as opposed to clipping to the first five leaf cluster?

    Replies
    1. oh i clip the roses as close as i can to the 5 leaf cluster.

  33. hi janet, i am a lurker here. i have this exact same table! mine is natural color. do you know anything about its origins? im curious bc a friend gave it to me and said it was victorian. the wicker on the legs is unravelling and i am looking for a place to have it repaired properly. thanks

    1. really? oh wow! i bought mine from an antique store that was going out of business. the owner told me it was victorian and was from about 1910. mine has a bit of unraveling around one side of the table top edge but other than that it is really solid. i have no idea where to get on repaired but i'd ask around at a local antique shop. xo

  34. I have officially become smitten with your blog! I would pop in and read every now and then, but have been pouring over it from the beginning for the past few days. I have stopped to simplify several areas of my home, and am baking my own bread today! Just wanted to stop and say hi. I have light like that in my living room (well for now, my son's playroom) in the evening. We get it later in the day now that daylight's saving time is here, which is great because it's when he gets home from school. I agree that kind of light is special and truly brings joy to my day! I know you are taking a break, but I am looking forward to your posts when you come back.
