as i was setting this shot up to do for jane's flowers in the house post this morning,
i realized how lucky i am that i get this kind of light in my living room/dining room.
it only lasts for a few minutes each morning and i was lucky to catch it today.
the garden is in a restful state at the moment.
the flowers have all been deadheaded and hopefully a new batch will be blooming one more time before summer ends. so i just cut some greenery and put it in a clear glass vase.
but the real star today is the light.
monday, monday
so good to me.

GORGEOUS! Such a classy dining room. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light! Beautiful room!!
ReplyDeleteYour home is an absolute oasis of calm.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :)
ReplyDeleteLove the light, it makes me feel happy. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI think it's so refreshing to hear someone taking such pleasure in the most simple things. Even if the light wasn't shining in, you would make the room glow brightly--Janet's cottage is always a beautiful place to visit. I like the message on your chalkboard too.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I just love your window treatments.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is such a magical light and you make full use of it with your gorgeous furnishings...
ReplyDeleteThe light is absolutely wonderful as is your gorgeous room. I love the message on your blackboard, how very true! xxx
ReplyDeleteThe simple greenery and the light are pure sophistication.
ReplyDeleteI just love your home, Janet. The calm and tranquility can even be felt through your photos. Thank you for sharing them with us. :)
ReplyDeleteYou do have beautiful light! I'm so jealous! (As my living room is dreadfully dark, no matter what time of day....) It looks like the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee. (Or a cocktail, or tea or....) Thank you!
ReplyDeletethe calm and tranquil feel of your room just emanates out of the photo
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! I'd call in sick and just stay there with a cup of tea if I were you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light indeed! I love your quote on the board too!
ReplyDeletexxj.
It is a glorious light!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to sit in that light as many mornings as possible? That chalk board message is bang on isn't it, especially for family life? Love it. xx
ReplyDeleteI love how you decorate, so lovely and serene.
ReplyDeleteI'd linger longer in that morning light if I were you!
Beautiful, serene and elegant.
ReplyDeleteThat light is just glorious.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room!
ReplyDeleteYes - I love it too when the light is just right for that nano-second. Love the room. So funny, this morning in my office one of the women sang out the first line of "Monday, Monday," then another one piped in with the 2nd line, I chimed in with the third, and around the office the song rang! It was a Monday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot to enjoy the morning sun!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful light filled room and the leaves are the perfect decoration!

Just like you said, I have been given time to think about how we will rebuild our home. I have decided to follow your color scheme very closely, dear Janet! Thank you for being there with your prayers and dedications. I'm sure at the time you never dreamed how significant your blog could be. Thank you alwsys, Suzanne
ReplyDeleteI think you've got this room nailed, Janet. Including the sunlight which bounces off that warm amber honey wood floor and brings it all to life. I love the calm, simple touches of green--the typical bouquet of flowers almost wouldn't seem right on the table there, today.
ReplyDeleteBrings to mind another song, Don't Go Changin'..have an awesome day.
Beautiful morning light like that is a religious experience! What a great way to start the day!
ReplyDeleteOh and I've wanted to ask..did you buy the chairs slip covered or did you have slip covers made? I have some upholstered chairs that I thought I might look into the cost to have slip covers made.
ReplyDeletei had those made:)
DeleteSimply gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteJanet, Don't you own any dust ?:):) Your room is sparkling. There's special moments in the day when I like the sunshine flowing in my windows too. Smiles to you, Susie
ReplyDeleteHi Janet, for your roses, do you prefer deadheading as opposed to clipping to the first five leaf cluster?
ReplyDeleteoh i clip the roses as close as i can to the 5 leaf cluster.
DeleteThis room kills me everytime you post it...just beautiful!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet email when my husband passed away. It meant so much. I am hanging on with the help of friends, family and faith.

hi janet, i am a lurker here. i have this exact same table! mine is natural color. do you know anything about its origins? im curious bc a friend gave it to me and said it was victorian. the wicker on the legs is unravelling and i am looking for a place to have it repaired properly. thanks
ReplyDeletereally? oh wow! i bought mine from an antique store that was going out of business. the owner told me it was victorian and was from about 1910. mine has a bit of unraveling around one side of the table top edge but other than that it is really solid. i have no idea where to get on repaired but i'd ask around at a local antique shop. xo
DeleteI have officially become smitten with your blog! I would pop in and read every now and then, but have been pouring over it from the beginning for the past few days. I have stopped to simplify several areas of my home, and am baking my own bread today! Just wanted to stop and say hi. I have light like that in my living room (well for now, my son's playroom) in the evening. We get it later in the day now that daylight's saving time is here, which is great because it's when he gets home from school. I agree that kind of light is special and truly brings joy to my day! I know you are taking a break, but I am looking forward to your posts when you come back.
