random things - friday edition

pruning my roses is by far one of the best garden chores ever.
it's like quiet meditation in motion.

they are so beautiful - even in this faded state.

in other news, my dear friend steve from an urban cottage sent me this photo and said it reminded him of something i would wear.
he's right, i would wear this.
so i did.

thanks steve.

and in other good news...
in two weeks the new wes anderson movie, moonlight kingdom will be released.
you can watch the trailer here.

that's pretty much it.
i survived a week with the new blogger format and didn't kill anyone.
hopefully next week will be better.

have a brilliant spring weekend

  2. Hello Janet:
For some reason, best known to Blogger, our comment on your last post, where we have completely taken on board the tip for whiter than white laundry, disappeared without trace into the ether. We trust that this will not go the same way.

Your first image is absolutely lovely, and then of course we are left with those of you looking beautifully elegant and not at all as if you had been out doing a spot of light pruning!

    Kellemes hétvégét!

  4. You wore it well...very well!
I find pulling weeds very therapeutic but I will never cry when the mulch gets delivered and makes that chore non existent.

Can I also just say that I DETEST the new Blogger format. I am all for change. If things stay too stagnant for too long I grow bored. But this new format is for the birds. And it does not make for a more enjoyable blog reading experience. That is all. Now I will stop whining about it.

    Have a fabulous weekend Janet!

  6. I bring in some rose petals for a few days to scent the room after I dead head mine.
Steve was right on the nose with his suggestion.

    You do that look well.

I just noticed that your fire hydrants are yellow! Ours are red.
    Happy Weekend to you.

  7. I have always loved the classics, denim and tweed will always be in style. As to Blogger, I've had my share of troubles, and still working out some kinks with the postings and comments, I wanted to kill someone for a while, too.

  10. I love roses - my dad used to grow them in the garden at home. That's a great outfit on you, I do like the androgynous look.

  11. Wes Anderson movies are my very most favorite movies ever, I am so looking forward to his new one, I might have to have a mini-festival of his older stuff this next week.
Yes cheers to making it through blogger's new format, there was some cursing here this week at DaniBP HQ I'm afraid to say!

  13. I LOVE the image of the roses in the flower tub. I have a rose arrangement that is well past it's expiration date and I just love to look at it. Ok, today, it's gone but it served it's 'beauty' purpose! Have a great weekend!

  20. i'm amazed that with your spartan wardrobe, you could copy the outfit so exactly.
[perhaps steve knew you had all the pieces]
it's really adorable & will be a great look for fall.
i want to add a pile of pearl necklaces : )

your roses are gorgeous ~ even more so in their semi-expired state.
they look more at ease that way.

hope you have a wonderful weekend, janet ~ i plan to try a few alkaline sisters recipes ♥

  22. Love this post - love roses so much (am at least 6 weeks away from roses starting to bloom in my climate!) so am drooling... I think it is just great that you were able to go into your closet and recreate the outfit! And so great that you have a friend who knows your style so well!!!!
