i'm not going to lie.
i have writers block. since i don't consider myself a writer, i don't know what that means.
i have writers block. since i don't consider myself a writer, i don't know what that means.
but honestly, i've been staring at this screen for like a half hour.
all these thoughts keep popping up in my mind that i should talk about but i can't get my fingers to type them.

things i should talk about...
this outfit
where i'm going in it.
how i've gotten my wardrobe pared down to within an inch of its life and how happy that makes me.
how anything that i own that is nice, larry bought me.
but instead i'm just going to wish you a wonderful day and urge you to enjoy it.

Just lovely! I want that blouse!!
ReplyDeleteI love the ease and simplicity of a pared down wardrobe, I'm having a big clear out just now as I wade through my winter/spring transfer, I honestly want just 8 ( Hmm, maybe 9 , 10 11? eek!) perfect outfits every season - I stress about everything and I think that's the only way I'll ever be well dressed more than once a week.
ReplyDeleteTell us if you succeed. And if so, how you did it. I love the "concept" of 8 chic little outfits. And on a given day, I can choose 8. But two days later I want the option of a whole different 8 little outfits. I do not have one "look" and frankly who wants to show up for hiking in a little black dress/equivalent. Or at a cocktail party in jeans? I live in a 4 season climate, travel to foreign countries, have a professional job, head to ice rinks to watch the offspring play hockey, go for weekends to the coast, garden. Have moments when I need to break out cowboy boots. 8 outfits are just not cutting it! Help!!!!!!
DeleteOh yes, the shirt/jeans ensemble is quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteI applaud your candid honesty...
ReplyDeleteLarry has great taste.
You look great! I have been participating in a sort-of minimal closet experiment. {9 items for 1 month} It is much easier than I thought! I can't wait to hear all about your pared down wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteFabulous outfit. Makes me remember that I have a pair of jeans just like those hanging in my wardrobe that I never wear. I've fallen into that silly habit of buying things and 'saving' them for a) the 'perfect' occasion b) when I'm the 'perfect' size c) when I have something 'perfect' to go with them. This means that I never end up wearing anything. Perhaps I need to learn to pare down too...
ReplyDeletep.s. LOVE your blog. Your pictures are cool even without words. x
love it Janet!! oh, and as Kelley said about your fab trench- I, too, think you need a pair of avator sunglasses- you'd look like a movie star!
ReplyDeletexojoan
"aviator" ;)
ReplyDeleteI would love to hear about how you got your wardrobe pared down and what pieces you have left. I'm trying to do the same thing right now before my husband and I move from Oklahoma to Virginia and I can't seem to completely finish. Any kind of inspiration would be helpful. Great outfit!
ReplyDeleteI am having such a good time clearing and organising my wardrobe - who knew so much fun was to be had headfirst in a closet!!
ReplyDeleteThis could be my favourite of your outfits, adore the gentle '70s vibe, and that blouse is perfect. Bxx
You don't need to write, just keep showing us your fabulous wardrobe.
ReplyDeletex
You don't need to say anything because you look so fabulous. What 7s are those? I love mine, best fitting jeans I have ever owned. And did you say $35?!?!?!?!?!?! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteI say who needs words when you look that good.
ReplyDeletexo T.
I would like to burn everything in my closet and have you take me shopping. Maybe Larry will chip in some$$$?
ReplyDeletexo J.
You look great. I've been reading for a while but I think this might be my first comment. Hi!
ReplyDeleteMy nicest item, and the thing that suits me the most perfectly out of everything that I own, is my watch and it was a gift from my husband.
I would love to hear more about paring your wardrobe down. I've been working on it but haven't hit the sweet spot yet.
Hope you have a lovely day.
Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteNow and then I suffer from writers block too :-)! You look great once again. Love the jeans & shirt!
Happy day!
Madelief x
I love the gifts from my husband, he can pick things that I never would but I end up loving them all the same. All my real jewelry are gifts.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is perfect, love it!
Janet,
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute, You always make me laugh. I feel like we are chatting over coffee! Whatever you write is always excellent.
Love the blouse and the whole getup. I think florals are so pretty for Spring! I dashing out now and going to see if I can find anything near as pretty as that.
Have a great day!
Kim:)
Gosh you look stunning today Janet.
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and I LOVE it! I love your fashion and decor style, they are both so classic.
ReplyDeleteJennifer
Cute as ever Jnaet !! I know what you mean about writer's block...I want to post everyday , so I can stay in touch with all the beautiful bloggers. Some times I have little to post, or no current photos to show. But I keep trying. Smiles to you, xox, Susie(She Junks)
ReplyDeleteFabulous as always Janet! You are the best! Thanks to your inspiration, a few weeks ago --after reading your pantry post-- I began tackling my pantry! Not done but it's getting there! Thanks for all you have taught me and inspired me to do/be.

Who needs words when we can just gaze at your sheer fabulousness? Those jeans and that blouse are stunners, I'd happily give them a new home if they ever need one! xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite outfits, you look adorable!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous, Janet - chic and pretty!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL Post.thanks for share..
ReplyDeleteAdorable...darling...pretty blouse, outfit...perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteWow--your legs look a mile long and you have the physique of a 30-something! And Larry has chosen well..what's the occasion? Probably just recognizing the sheer fabulousness of his wife:) That blouse is beautiful and the dark denim is the perfect compliment. You didn't say where you were going but wherever it is, you are going in style. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYou look like quite the rock'n hipster. How sweet to have a husband that shops for you and who buys nice things.
ReplyDeleteJulie
My favorite out fit of yours! Everything is perfect. I love love love wide pants.
ReplyDeleteI loove the blouse. The pants look great on you. I am also loving your hair. You've inspired me to grow out my grays and stop permanently colouring my tresses (I'm 44 and have about 50% gray!!!) As we are heading into winter here in oz I have acquired lots of hats to hide the yucky two toned bit as it grows.
ReplyDeleteSo different from what we have seen on you so far. I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteI just came home from a great trip to the local Goodwill - Club Monaco dress, cardigan sweater and a denim shirt all for $20 total. Janet, you are the reason I started thrifting. You make thrifting cool and have changed the way I shop entirely.
My wardrobe thanks you, my husband thanks you, my bank account thanks you and I thank you. Oh, and Sonoma county Goodwill thanks you, too because I now spend my money there instead of Macy's.
xoxo, Adrienne
Looking good Janet.
ReplyDeleteYour husband has good taste - in clothes and his wife!
What a GREAT outfit, Janet!! I love the whole combo, but most especially the pants. I also like how the purse matches the blouse. This is a keeper outfit. You look sharp.
ReplyDelete-Maggie
BTW, how's the olive oil working for you as a moisturizer? You were going to report back on using it on your face. I like to use it on my body after a shower. I have it in a spray bottle which makes it easier to apply. I haven't tried it on my face, yet. Call me chicken.
ReplyDelete-Maggie
maggie i love, love, love using the olive oil. still using it. i am not using it on my face though one day i'm sure i will.
DeleteThat's a lovely outfit - the blouse is gorgeous (good choice Larry!). Sometimes it's best to let the pictures do the talking.
ReplyDeleteyou wear it well, very well can't help myself, here goes; "are they sustainable?!" :-)
ReplyDeletedebra
the jeans and shoes are!
DeleteHow funny that even though you have writer's block, you write about it so well! I'm struggling and I've only accomplished 14 posts since my birth as a blogger! Ha, ha! I'm about "simple" and that's what I truely enjoy about your blog, you do inspire me!
ReplyDelete~kim
Even when you "talk" about writer's block you do it so well. That's what I love about your writing...you have a real voice. You are a writer...are you kidding me? And a beautiful one with exquisite style. So there you go...my two cents Janet.

annie
Oh wow...your closet pared down to an inch of its life--I hope you share the details--I eagerly await to learn more!
ReplyDeleteand btw--This outfit is awesome. Seven jeans for 35 bucks?! Unreal.

I need to pare down, but I am hoping to pare down the bottom first ;) Love your outfit!!
ReplyDeletewriters block and you still look chic.
ReplyDeletefooled me....aren't you supposed to be holding some liquor bottle and be slumped over full of despair?
pve
as always - LOVE! you look smashing!
ReplyDeleteEffortless chic...that is you my friend.
ReplyDeleteI can pare down 99% of my life but my wardrobe....while I purge regularly, I love having options.
And I simply love clothing.
xoxo
I love your Anthro top - do you happen to know the style name? I love your style...very classy and chic.
ReplyDeletei do not know the name. i went online and can't find it so it must be sold out. sorry i couldn't help.
DeleteEven when you are wondering what to say, you end up saying something profound. Your honesty and candid comments are what make you the girl we admire. You have such good karma - even when you feel "blocked"!
ReplyDeleteSherry
HI
ReplyDeleteI love the blouse, who knew Larry has such great taste. You look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDear Janet, Just keep posting the pictures - i really love how you look in today's outfit. Of course, I am nosey and would love to know where you are going in it. Your few words tell me so much; that you love and respect Larry, (and why not, he has good taste and takes great photos!) Rosemary xxx.
ReplyDeleteVery glamorous! You have great hair!
ReplyDeleteJanet, you really inspire me. Could you write about your skin care?
ReplyDeleteJaney
I love everything about this outfit, Janet...it looks absolutely lovely on you! The blouse is beautiful. Larry does indeed have really great taste. :)
ReplyDeleteCan you do a post showing your wardrobe, i.e., what's left, how you paired down? That would be great! Thanks for always being so positive! Love your site. :)
ReplyDeletei'm working on that post.
Deletethis is such a chic outfit.
ReplyDeletegotta love Larry's taste.
7 for all mankind jeans are $375 here xxx
yeah, they are expensive here too. these retailed for over $200.
DeleteEchoing others, your positivity is inspiring
ReplyDeleteLet me echo the request for a long inspiring blog on paring down the wardrobe. I suffer from excess and lose heart when I try to go through it and get rid of things, especially when I like a lot of the things I have.
ReplyDeleteBut I really really have too much. And that does not feel light and freeing.(I did donate two pairs of *thrifted* Seven for All Mankind jeans that I did not love so somewhere out there someone scored them for $6.99 each)
Help us out Janet!
Chic & sexy. You so rock this outfit and so does Larry for getting you the blouse. A great post. You are a great writer.
ReplyDeleteHi Janet,
ReplyDeleteLove your blog. I've gone back and have read all of your posts. This is a really great silhouette for you. You look sophisticated, polished, and contemporary. It shows off your best assets!
cheers,
kathy
This outfit was made for you sister!
ReplyDeleteYou look grand!
