spicy tortilla gardein burger*

it's friday and the weekend is here.
i'm happy.

but i'm also (always) thinking about easy, yummy things to eat.
a spicy tortilla burger would be perfect.
i made these last weekend and they were a big hit.
maybe you'll like them too.

1 gardein veggie burger
1 tortilla
lettuce, tomato, avocado
small dice pickled jalapeno peppers
agave syrup

after you grill your veggie burger place it in one corner of the tortilla and drizzle agave on it in a light crisscross pattern.
put the diced jalapenos on top of that and then the rest of the toppings.
fold entire thing into quarters.
it's the heat mixed with the sweet that does the trick.
enjoy!

*no animals were harmed making this burger.

enjoy your weekend and be kind b/c the alternative stinks.

    1. Janet,

That receipt sounds delicious. I must try the Gardein garden burgers.

  3. Fabulous-! I have tried Boca burgers and found them so-so. I've got to try these. Thanks.

Janet you are helping to dispel the notion that the vegan way of eating (of being!) is difficult and drab. For me, refining my diet from vegetarian to vegan and then to no added oil/no sugar completely changed
not only my well-being but my taste buds and cravings. as a former sugar/fat addict, i'm still amazed that these things hold no appeal for me any longer. even unsweetened dried fruit seems overly sweet for me. having said that, i've never eaten better!
people need to be educated not only about the health and environmental benefits, but also about the deliciousness of this way of life...
the vegan diet can be one of the most varied and creative diets out there-!!

Yes - a vegan diet can be quite varied, and as limitless in possibilities as your imagination. ...

  4. that looks dElish! I've never put mine in a tortilla before...we're grilling out tomorrow so looks like I'll be having this same meal. I found a jalapeno/red pepper jelly at Trader Joes that I smother on mine. Also I'm addicted to the TJ eggplant patties ... I've probably had 4 this week alone! :)

    Have a happy weekend!

  17. Just wanted to thank you for telling us about these. I found some at Whole Foods when you recommended them a while back and they were a big hit. My daughter is a vegetarian and I am about 90% vegetarian (the men in my family occasionally eat grass fed beef and fish). Normally I like to prepare most food from scratch ... but (whew!) I was in need an easy meal and these tortilla burgers look great. Can't wait to try them. Sort of a mix between a burger, a falafel sandwich and a taco all rolled into one. Nice!
