$10 outfit challenge #6

hello everyone.
i'm feeling that heavenly combination of physical exhaustion and being so refreshed.  that happens after skiing 7 days straight.
i had very little internet access so i'm way behind in my blog reading.
i'm going to try and catch up today.
i know you asked quite a few questions in my last post and i promise to answer them this week.

but first...

on my way to the market to load up on fresh veggies and tofu i stopped at a yardsale and broke out of my ralph lauren self, channeled vix and bought this beautiful, maxi dress from the 60's or early 70's for $1.

i fell in love with it the minute i saw it.  i had a bikini in a similar print when dinosaurs roamed the earth or when i was about 14.
the lady i bought it from couldn't believe i wanted it.

i'm fairly certain i have a split personality when it comes to style.
on one hand i adore my herringbone jackets and on the other i have a hard time resisting bright, cheerful kate spade-like colors.

dress - $1
sunglasses - .99
total - $1.99

i wish you all a wonderful week.  i plan to be my best.  you in?

  3. That is gorgeous! I thought of you when I picked up a $7 hemp blend skirt the other day. Not a $10 outfit, but I'm working on it! You never cease to inspire me. Have a wonderful week, Janet.

  6. That dress has me wiping at the corners of my mouth.
    And a dollar???? Really????
My wallet is now writhing in jealousy.
I can't find things in the thrift stores here for that anymore.

  8. damn. I wish I was brave enough to wear something that fun and cool.

On the rare occasion that I do slip out of a gray t-shirt and wear something fun, I feel good...guess I'll have to go garage saleing. :)

    Glad you're back!

  10. Lovely! The colours are beautiful, but your weather makes me wish our rain would stop and things would warm up a bit - no garage sales here for a few months. Peg on Vancouver Island
    All the best for 2012

  11. I think we all have several style personalities. I love that one can ski and wear a summery maxi dress within two days - that is good living.

  14. I cannot believe the great things you find!
I have also wondered at times if I have a split personality re clothes. Someone once told me I do because I am a Gemini, but I don't much go in for that astrology stuff.
Happy you are back with us safe and sound. Your ski trip sounds fun, I miss skiing very much, we need actual snow here to make that work.

  17. Love it---you're channeling Liz Taylor! I'm amazed you found a vintage maxi dress in your size, I always see more of the moo moo version in extra large!

  18. No matter what it is, as Rod Stewart sang, "You wear it well." I gotta admit, I love that you sneak into movies and curse (even as a grandmother). These may not be the most pro-social behaviors, but they are very human, and I can relate to that. You have true spunk and courage, Janet.

Happy new year to you and yours.

  32. I love it. It is quite a departure for you--but you look good in everything. Faux Fuschia is going to have to duke it out with me for it though. I would totally wear that to one of my own garden parties.
