everlane ryan tee shirt and tank top review

Target Shorts and Tote

Back in May when I was packing for our trip here, I really had no idea how long we'd be gone and was in a big rush. Country Living magazine actually squeezed me into their schedule because they knew I was coming here to care for my FIL. Normally I'm quite the efficient packer but things were hectic and I wound up just throwing stuff in my bag knowing I would make it work and besides, we were going to Utah for heavens sake, not the moon.

Anyway, I knew an Everlane Ryan Tee shirt and tank top were coming with me. I bought these back in the summer of 2012 when I first heard of Everlane.  If you don't know about them, check them out right here. The tops are made in Los Angeles and definitely have that casual LA vibe. The tee's are now 3 years old and honestly still look new. In the above photos I'm wearing the tee and tank top backwards. I like to do that with tops because 1. my decolletage is wrecked and 2. it's like having 2 tee shirts in one.  Everlane if you are reading please make a boatneck, 3/4 sleeve tee for me and my friends.

This is the most accurate photo of how the tee looks in real life. The drape is what I love about it, as it skims instead of clings and hides lots of things you want hidden. The length of the dolman sleeve make the shirt a bit dressier yet still casual. The fabric is soft, opaque and great for layering.  I would say the Ryan tee fits a little large so keep that in mind. I am a size small but I prefer a looser fit so the small fits perfectly. I machine wash them in cold water, line dry and have never had a problem yet.

I'm not being paid to review this tee shirt. I purchased them with my own money. But if you sign up and use this LINK I will get a store credit from them if you make a purchase.  It's kind of a cool set up they have. So if you refer a friend you get store credit too.  Also, if you make a purchase within 24 hrs of signing up you get free shipping. They ship quick, returns are super easy and the packaging is recycled and quite chic.

If you prefer to not use my link click Everlane.  Hopefully this review is helpful to you.

ps - still working on all the amazing comments you left.  your stories are SO inspiring!
pps - I just spent an hour answering comments and not one published.  I'm so upset right now. :(

  1. I know you're not comfortable with too many compliments, but you are just one of the most special people I have ever met... even though it's only through your blog. Your commitment to responding to all those comments on your "how are you" post did not surprise me at all...I can just tell that's the person you are. I am still reading all of them and I'm amazed at how many times a positive attitude seems to come through in spite of the difficulties. I think we all hang on to hope even in the face of life's problems.

I have been in a T-shirt dilemma for quite a while now. I love them with jeans, but the close fitting ones don't look all that great with the bulky zipper & button on most jeans. I will go straight away to this website. And, yes, I agree...we need a boat neck with 3/4 sleeves. That's what I need here in PA for fall & spring when temps are cooler, but not cold. Thanks for the tip!!

    2. Maybe it will be better today.

My schedule's all off and I was online about 4am instead of sleeping, and my whole computer shut down for some stupid updates and I lost part of a Word doc I was transferring some info to, off of a web article. I would have shouted bloody hell except that I didn't want to wake up my husband. When I was at a doctor's appt last week, they couldn't access any of my personal health info/medical history (they have no paper files as backup anymore) while I was there and in the exam room because their system was shut down due to some problem. These computers can make or break us, that's for sure. Can't live with 'em sometimes, but now can't either live without them.

  6. With you on the Everlane affection for the basic clothes, their ethical practices and business model. Thanks to Mop Phil Dani, had fun meeting their founder and lead designer when they first started shipping to Canada, and were still very small. Have been thinking about you up on those trails in Utah. Sending smiles across the miles especially after comment fail! As for packing, it is good to be prepared, but sometimes life (rush, lost or forgotten luggage, spills, spontaneous road trips, cancelled flights, family emergencies...) just happens. Regardless, wear what you've got, well.

  7. Seriously Janet you are the only girl I know who can wear a backwards sleeveless T shirt look like Audrey Hepburn! : )
Loved your last few posts and of course all of the heartfelt and sincere comments from your loyal readers.
I miss the beauty of Utah and can understand why it can fill you up with peace and joy just on a short afternoon walk.

Enjoy your stay as much as you can and take lots of pictures

  9. Hi Janet, you look great in anything and of course a backwards t shirt! I totally get it about not wanting anything clingy, those days are gone for me. The only way I can pull it off is if I'm wearing high waisted jeans because they suck everything in!

I'm always looking for clothes made in the U.S., hard to come by these days. I checked out Everlane's website, their clothing is quite reasonable.

Glad to see you are back blogging on a regular basis, missed that!

  10. I love a good tee. I live in them. I remember you talking about Everlane in the past, so I need to listen this time! You look marvelous, as usual! Can't believe you're responding to each and every single one of the comments from your recent post. Sorry it is giving you trouble. You are so kind to want to do this, and that's why we love you!

  12. there's nothing like a good T shirt. great for every day but put on a sweater or jacket and they dress right up. I have to remember Everlane. I purchased a sweatshirt from them last year on your recommendation and was pleased. I certainly like their ethic.

  13. Love all your suggestions about clothes and how to address "issues" that we all seem to have in our "age group"! I just found some great higher waisted tights (leggings for running) in the "Metro" collection from Athleta that I think your readers would appreciate. They are very figure flattering and contain the muffin area! Janie

    1. Janie,

Good recommendation! I saw those tights in the Athleta catalog recently...I'm probably going to order a olive green pair, wish they came in all the cute prints that the lower rise ones do. I'm tall and fairly slender but the "muffin" continues to be an issue. I exercise a lot and it does not help. :/

  14. I really like the drape/look of the gray in the last pic. I struggle so much with being cold yet woven cotton (think button-down shirts) makes me too hot. This looks perfect for me and perfect under a jacket for fall too. I am def going to check it out.
    Thanks!

  15. I just placed my first order with Everlane via an US shipping service - I am getting a round collar silk blouse in black, a white Ryan T Shirt... and... a long sleeve Ryan - you might want to check it out, not sure they only recently added those, but they look very nice, there is also a linen long sleeve T that looks lovely...

    1. mireille you will love their silk shirts. i have the round collar in nude. wish it were in blush but they added that color last year. i've had mine for 3 years and i love it. the quality is so good esp for the price. i don't have a long sleeve ryan but i know they'd be perfect for layering in the cold weather. i haven't gotten any of their linen pieces. i hope you like what you've chosen. i think you will. xo

    Hi Janet,

I work with Everlane's Customer Service team and I wanted to get in touch with you about your referral link. Recently, a customer wrote in to us explaining how she was referred by this blog post and wanted to make sure you got your credit from her purchase. I tried to do some digging but was unable to find your Everlane account. I would like to confirm you're receiving credit for all these customers that you are referring to us! Could you email me at [sam.english@everlane.com] to help me out with this?

Thank you so much for your support!

    All the best,
    Sam
