biker wedding chic

Well a lot of you are interested in just what all these bikers wore to the wedding.  I know I couldn't wait to see either. Like I said in my previous post, they were the most gracious group with impeccable manners.  I loved seeing what they wore and how they wore it.  Before we get to them though, lets first look at the bride and groom.

B was stunning in her 1940's crochet chemise.  They purchased the dress at Raggedy Threads in downtown Los Angeles.  this is her facebook page in case you can't make it into LA.  Jaimie is a lovely person and I spent some time talking vintage fashion with her at the wedding.  B's beautiful sister Bre did her makeup and hair and isn't it gorgeous?  I mean B always looks great but when she walked down the aisle I was like...wow.

Alex wore a suit from a company called Western River in Japan.  Believe it or not, vintage Harley Davidson's are incredibly popular there and they love Alex.  A and B have done several magazine shoots for their company and they sent Alex this suit as a gift.  He wore it with a RRL white shirt and this J.Crew bow tie and these J. Crew Ludlow Wingtips.

Here's the rest of the gang...

And I was worried about wearing black...

  8. Great post and pics Janet. Loving the biker dude in the yellow tie, bless him.
The bride's dress is stunning.... as is she. This wedding was absolutely beautiful and just proves that style and good taste don't always come with a hefty price tag.

  12. This and the wedding pics are two of my favorite blog posts ever. They would probably hate if I called them hipsters, but I cant think of anything else close. The STYLE! EGADS. I wish I could style like that. (I feel like such a frump now in my chocolate brown riding boots and neutral cardigan - blech!) I am in heaven looking at these pics.

Oh, and, Janet, this seems like such a stressfully fun, right up your alley, kick in the pants, shot in the arm for you. Loving your spunk and spark with this.... Makes my day.

  18. Two things: (okay, three...)

Sometime tell us, unless that's too private, just how much land ya got there, Janet; it looks like a pretty-darn-big orchard.

How adorable is the baby guy in his little vest.

After looking at these delightful photos, I feel old and decidedly un-hip. And I'm a native!!!

    1. You know, that one photo looks as if it was color-touched-up although of course it is not...the girl with the red shades, with red nails, holding I think a red drink, matching the red blooms in the background tree, and then her friend holding the green can, blending in with all the green of your yard. I don't pin, but that's one I'd pin...if I pinned. Coolest wedding EVER.

    2. vicki it's not a lot of land. it's just differently laid out. the house was built right at the lot line way back when. so we have just a walkway on the right side of the house. the cool thing about the yard is that it has actual garden rooms so that makes it fun to walk through the property. and no photos have been retouched at all so that's saying something for B's photos right?!

    3. Well then, how great to score such a unique property, however large or small, because those garden rooms are treasures! (Awesome backdrops for awesome photos. I've thought before that the dearly-departed original gardener must be well-pleased for a labor-of-love brimming with beauty all the many years later...)

  19. Where's Vix???? She would have been right at home! And actually, since I wear a lot of black myself, would have fit right in, too :)

I thing this wedding deserves a magazine spread SOMEwhere! ♥

  33. Great Photo's, thanks for sharing, I loved all the clothes. Such good looking and interesting people!! Well, this exploded the myth that we only have Hollywood celebrities, old hippies and surfers in California, ha! With over 30 million population, we are as diverse as our landscape. I wouldn't have it any other way. Sooo happy and proud to live here!

  35. What an interesting mix of people and fashion!! The coolest looking wedding guests I have seen ever!

I have to ask, when exactly did B buy her wedding dress? Before or after they announced they were getting married in a couple weeks? She certainly hit the jackpot with that one. Just gorgeous.

    1. as soon as they decided to get married which was just 2 weeks prior to the wedding. they went to raggedy threads and saw the dress but it was on hold for someone else. they waited 2 days and went back and the owner sold it to them! she came to the wedding too and i had a nice time talking with her about vintage clothing. so i'd say that dress was meant to be. :)

    1. no he is not alex's brother. but i have such a soft spot in my heart for wyatt. i met him just that day and do you know that he helped me bus tables well into the night? everyone was off dancing and the rental company was coming to collect the tables, chairs, etc and he saw me working by myself in the front garden and without saying a word came and just starting helping. i told him no, to go dance and have a good time but he silently refused and just worked along side me. the next day i asked about him and it turns out he is also a v good friend of my oldest son. he told me that's just how wyatt is. a true gentleman. rare these days! glad you asked about him vicki. :)

  38. What a crew! This was really fun to see Janet, and I love how the bride and groom will always have these pics of their guests on that special day. Really what it all boils down to is this.... people are people are people. Glad you experienced a fun day with a different group of people. Love the diversity of this group and their hipness!
    GSL--you nailed it---Yes, Jean Harlow!
And, your last sentence made me laugh so hard, I almost spit my coffee out! Love you Janet!

  39. Hi Janet! Love the wedding pics. What a beautiful time for you! I was wondering if you could post or comment about how you are handling the holidays that are looming upon us. I normally love thanksgiving but because I'm hosting and because I have social anxiety with all the family coming (both my side and his side) I have DREAD in my stomach. Like I want to just walk away and skip it ...but I know I can't! I look forward to next Sunday ! I think it's getting worse for me... The holidays as I age. I'm 50. Ugh. Too much confusion for me I guess. Too many this and that coming at me. I do have help even. People are bringing lots of food to help out. But again it's still too much. Thanks Janet. XXXX Jen

    1. yes, jennifer i feel it too. i'm not even really cooking but b /c of the wedding i'm pretty behind. everything got put on hold for 2 weeks and i'm just now starting to feel normal. lol, don't you love getting old?! i ran into a friend at the market yesterday and she had a 4 page printed list of groceries to buy. seeing that list made me nervous! the crowds have started and even the traffic has picked up. i will try to put a post together for you. :)

  40. The guests look so happy. This is a one of a kind wedding. It looks hipster and elegant with gorgeous people. Just proves elegance is something money does not buy. It is an innate quality and we create it for ourselves in our own ways. Just lovely. Thanks for sharing.

  41. What a gorgeous couple! What a fun party you've had! I personally prefer smaller and unique handmade weddings over big ones, because those are the ones you will always remember (our wedding was very small + unique too) :-) I will have to mention Alex's name when I go back to Japan next time. Sounds like he might be a celebrity there! xx

  42. I have enjoyed looking at your photos many times over the last few days. such a unique and beautiful wedding! everyone looks so happy! just shows you that you don't have to plan for months, even years, seriously stress yourself out or refinance the house to have a memorable wedding. I am shocked by what weddings cost these days, even for ordinary folk, not celebrities. the cost of some celebrity wedding just seems obscene to me. your choice of dress was perfect. the vintage blouse would have been too conventional, if pretty. in your black dress and boots you fit right in.
