good friday

whenever i put this blouse on it reminds me of my first real job.
it was 1976 and i was a secretary.  i worked for a large company and had two close girlfriends that worked there too.  fridays were the best because it meant one thing...the weekend.
those were the days.

alex bought this vintage blouse for me last mother's day.
i love it paired with these wide legged jeans.  i think they are the most comfortable pair of jeans i've ever owned and seem to be made for this blouse.

today of course is good friday.  i gave up complaining for lent and i lasted about 4 days.

have a lovely weekend and happy easter too.

  1. You look positively phenomenal. The tie on the blouse is such a nice echo of the wide pant legs.

  2. Looks all very mod with that hip haircut.

We always laugh at work about how we looked forward to Fridays so we could go out and party and now we look forward to Fridays so we can go home and go to bed.

    Happy Easter.

  5. Great look for spring. Those jeans were made for you, Janet.

When I worked in the corporate world, I lived for Fridays. Now it's usually the only day of the week I go to work so it's both my Monday and my Friday!

    Have a lovely weekend.

  7. Very nice outfit! And I am jealous of the nice weather seen in the pictures! Here it is rainy and cold and grey... At least it is a public holiday, so I had time to read through a lot of your posts! I love your blog, gives me a lot of food to think and I am on my way to de-clutter my wardrobe...

I adore your wonderful cottage and the pretty garden. I too live in a very old house (around 1810) and love the charme of the rooms.

    Happy Easter!

  14. I think this outfit is absolutely my favorite. You are beautiful! If complaining has anything to do with it, I will definitely start complaining more often.

  17. Janet,

The men in your life have the best taste in clothing!

If I had to give up complaining it would probably last half a day. So good for you for making it 4 days. :)

    Happy Easter!

  22. I had a "corporate" job for a very short time in the 70's too! Straight out of high school. Well, when I say "corporate" I was just a receptionist but I worked in a gorgeous, brand new office in a cool building for a bunch of young mortgage brokers. I was probably the WORST receptionist EVER- I'd come in in the mornings and paint my nails at the desk while eating McDonald's breakfast McMuffins-totally forgetting that people were holding on the line while I chatted with my B.F. there about what we did the night before, or what we had lined up for the weekend. She was one of the most beautiful girls I'd ever seen, so let me tell you, the stories were good! My favorite part of working there, besides my friend, was choosing what to wear every morning. Loved that part! Of course I got fired eventually, Thank God, but that's another story...

Happy Easter to you and yours!!

    PS. sorry- T.M.I.??!

    so...thank you!

  25. P.S. Happy Easter!!!! I tired to get rid of 40 bags of excess stuff in 40 days. I think I got to 23 bags. Not bad but I could have done better. You might faint if you saw my closet. I have WAY too many clothes.

  26. 40 bags in 40 days. i need to do that too.

  27. I thought about you yesterday when I paired down my closet and got rid of half the things in it -things I haven't worn in years! Should I send them to you? You'd be able to make them work!

  28. You look gorgeous in this outfit Janet, as ever... very chic. I had a blouse in 70s with a 'pussy cat bow' when I worked as a receptionist for a Real Estate agent in California... Happy Days!! Hope you had a lovely Easter Break...Sarah X

  30. You big fibber! You were an office junior! You've overlooked the fact that somebody that actually knows you might read your blog. Don't worry I won't tell anybody - I was an office junior too and I say I was a secretary!
