Emerson Fry Caftans

I've long been a fan of Emerson Fry and her beautiful clothes but none more so than her caftans.  I've had mine for about 5 years and it has survived every closet clean out I've done.  It continues to be a favorite in my wardrobe.

The Grand Canyon

And yesterday running errands around town.

The older I get the more I love the loose, airy fit. Plus it is 100% chic.  I'm thrilled that it is now on her website all the time.  It wasn't always so. She'd run it in small batches and it was hard to catch.  It's made of organic cotton and hand blocked, low-impact dyes.  Plus, omg does it hides a world of sins.  I'm dying to purchase the Cerulean Blue one but will most likely put it on my Christmas list that is running in my head. You can check them out on my sidebar over there - isn't that easy!  I'm loving this new blog layout sick and I'm working like crazy to get my blog list restored.

Would you, do you wear caftans?  I highly recommend. xoxo

  1. the caftan is beautiful and you look wonderful in it. and your hair is great! alas, this would not work for me, I am just too petite and would be swallowed up in it. I did check out the website and she does have some lovely things.

  2. Same for me, Anonymous. Caftans are for tall women. I love the print on this one.

  3. I don't wear caftans or maxis now that I no longer wear heels. I'm in the senior years with a variety of foot ailments, primarily from wearing the highest heels I ever could find in my younger life. Being that I'm also very short (and have gained weight I'm trying to shed), a caftan on me looks like a sheet thrown over a box (with stick legs). It also distracts me when fabric is flopping against my lower legs; I think it makes me feel like I've gotten tangled up in something and could fall. Jeez, does that sound old-fart or what...

The blue caftan is lovely. I just clicked and looked at it; so fresh and sea-kissed, like a breeze. You MUST have it, Janet!

    1. haha vicki, i guess i thought they'd look great on everyone! i've seen IG photos of short women in them and they look fab but if you are not comfortable in something that is the worst! that's one of the benefits of aging, knowing what works for us. i think you are right...i must have it! lol x

  4. Oh my giddy aunt, this caftan doesn't age ...and neither do you, sweetie. I think it's a couple of years ago you posted the barefoot shot. Timeless!
And are those your flags welcoming visitors down your pathway? Such a nice touch, I'm going to think about doing something similar so thanks for the idea. Hugs,X.

  5. I made a caftan in my home ec class in high school over 30 years ago and it was beautiful. I hung on to it for a long time before finally selling it in a yard sale. I would give anything to have it back. I made it in a beautiful paisley fabric. And then one time I remember borrowing a friends beautiful caftan and wearing it to an outdoor party in the 70's. Now you have me wanting another one!

  8. Janet, I bought my first Emerson Fry caftan right after seeing yours on your blog. Indeed they wear well - I threw it into my suitcase for a last weekend's Labor Day trip and it was perfect for lounging and stitching! Love your recommendations .. and also love the new blog layout.
