The kitchen was feeling a little christmassy this morning so I took a few snaps to share.
I just clipped greenery from the garden and brought it inside and voila, it's Christmas.
We've also pulled the chairs that were in the dining room into the kitchen for more comfort. So I'm on the lookout for chairs for the dining room. To be honest I've been searching for chairs for years and have never found exactly what I've wanted. But I know patience is key to finding the perfect fit and I'm good with that.
Larry went all out and bought me these beautiful lilies from the .99 store. Are any of you still shopping there? The deals astound me every week.
Christmas is one week from today. Take a deep breath. xo
Your kitchen looks very Christmasy, indeed. As well as fresh, crisp, and lovely. I like the chairs in there, and I am sure you will find some perfect chairs for the dining room. Sadly, we do not have a 99 cent store. I love hearing of all the great deals you get there. Happy Holidays to You, Larry, and your loved ones!
ReplyDeletethank you so much robin. happy holidays to you and your family also! xo
DeleteI am reading Marie Kondo's second book. All the pictures of your home spark "joy" in my heart. One of the lessons is to find a picture of the house that sparks joy and then work toward that--as a goal or a sign post. Mine is you. I showed the pictures of your friend's kitchen redo to my carpenter. Put it on his iPad for reference. I will also share the photos of your kitchen in this post. Thank you for sparking joy in me with each and every post and picture.
ReplyDeleteoh i love her book, i must read the new one! thanks for sharing my home with your friends. xo
DeleteYour kitchen looks so cozy...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to sit in one of those chairs and just soak up all that serene beauty that your home possess. Your magic touch is so evident in your expertly curated home decor.
Sadly we don't have a 99 cent store here. Tulips are so pretty and we are fortunate that they are available all year long...a small bunch would cost about $6.00 at our local market.
I adore the parrot tulips which are even more expensive, they remind me of a Dutch Masters still life painting.
Love your reminder to slow down and breathe...
XO
thank you leslie. they aren't tulips but lilies. my readers caught my error! xo
DeleteElegant and natural....love the fresh greens, chairs in the kitchen, the cozy feel. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletethank you mom! xo

Always amazed how your simple touches add so much elegance and style to a room. The chairs look comfy in the kitchen and I am looking forward to what you find for the dining room. I have a dollar store nearby and have never visited but plan to this week to see what it offers- thanks for the advice. Happy Holidays to you- may your days be filled with peace and joy!!

ReplyDeleteYour place is always so clean, beautiful and peaceful. Those tulips sure resemble Calla Lilies. I have also grown them in pots.
Sincerely,
oh dear, that is bc they are lilies! i'm so sorry i wrote the post v early yesterday and don't know what i was thinking! lol x
DeleteGlad for the opportunity today to wish you a happy Christmas, Janet! Thank you for all the wonderful posts over the years and particularly this past year when I know it's been probably a little difficult when your 'other' life (beyond blog life!) is full of so many things (like working for a paycheck!). All the best to you and your family for a bountiful 2017 (rich in all the things that matter!).
ReplyDeleteJust gotta say...are you getting this BIG northeast wind we're getting here north of you today? It's cold, too; 63 degrees right now at 2pm, wow (only a Southern Californian thinks 60s are cold, right??!!). We spent most of the earlier day today (36 degrees at 6:30 am) at the winter beach; so gorgeous I can't even describe it, but I'll try: Sand beiges and soft blues except for incredible deep-dark-blue/teal ocean, with whitecaps, saltwater spray and sand blowing in poofs everywhere, sun on the water at noon, people actually trying to walk against the wind (very FEW people!); palm trees bent over to where you think, OMG, they're gonna break in two, but, no/never. Boats moored in the marina, bobbing and bright with their blue tarps. It all sings to this sea-girl's heart and makes me glad to be alive!
happy holidays to you and your family also vicki. yes, this rain has been so wonderful. your beach scene sounds magical. we love the beach in the winter! x

DeleteI was just reading another post about how the French do Christmas. They showed simple greenery for decor. And then I turn to your blog and boom, you of course have the same classy style! Can't wait too see what you pick for dining room chairs.
ReplyDeleteTo my British ears Happy Holidays sounds like what we'd say for the big summer holidays by the sea! Anyway, Janet, have a wonderful Winter Solstice as that's what I love about this time of the year - into the LIGHT - and a merry Xmas! And a quiet new year because I'm sure after 2016 we all need one.
ReplyDeleteLooks very Christmasy Janet! I've been meaning to email you...a lot going on lately. :/
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely Christmas!

Once again I have vowed to pare down Christmas NEXT YEAR! And then I open your lovely post and solidify my resolve. Although I really simplified the decorating, the gift giving is over the top and exhausting to buy and wrap. Four grandkids, three sets of parents, four grandnieces and nephews and, at least, two gifts for each. More like four for the grandkids. I'm pooped and nursing a cold. But now, that is water under the bridge and in two days my little bungalow will be filled with happy guests. So before this one is in the books, let me wish you and yours the merriest of holidays and a safe and peaceful 2017.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful and uncomplicated and fresh! So pretty , Janet. We have Dollar Tree stores here in the South. They are fun to shop - wish they would add flowers! Merry Christmas to you and yours. Kay
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy the peace, simplicity and beauty that you strive for in your home and life. Have a lovely Holiday!!
