walmart maxi dress

Yesterday we took a long drive down into the nearest big town to search for some vegan food options and we stopped in at Walmart.  It's been 9 weeks since I stepped into any kind of store other than a grocery store so even though it was a Walmart I was pretty thrilled.  I found this maxi dress marked down to $9.  The quality is quite high for that price.  The cotton fabric is soft and comfortable and thick enough that it isn't see-through but light enough for summer.  We are meeting some ski friends for dinner tonight for tacos and a stroll through the farmers market.  I'm really looking forward to getting out and a bit of socializing.  So anyway, I just wanted to pass this bargain on to you.  You can see the color combinations here. In person they were all pretty.  Online it is $13 but in the store it is $9.  Either price is great. x

  1. That is very pretty on you! I absolutely cannot jump onto the maxi dress bandwagon. The early 1970's is still too close in my mind! We were all wearing them then. I am too old, I believe, to wear a maxi at age 63. I do get a kick out of the return of this fashion. Everything old is new again!

  4. Janet this dress looks a lot like the one I bought last year from Lands End except mine has bright pink stripes. took it on vacation, wore it around town, out to dinner and to church, even as a beach cover up. one night at a restaurant a couple at the next table gave me a matching pink flower because they thought I looked so nice. I am saying this because I am 74 and 5 feet nothing. forget the rules, wear what you want. am bringing it on vacation this year as well for sure.

walmart carries a lot of white stag. i remember in my childhood that used to be a high end brand and always quality.
along with catalina. i was happy to find it again there. it's always reasonable and well made ... simple and lovely too.
i was actually thinking about you just this morning! i wondered if you were going to be there for a long time...
you might offer your services of facial spa delights that you do. i would imagine women there are hungry for that kind of thing!

  10. Oh, you look so nice, Janet. And you perfectly match the background decor! Soft and calming neutrals...elegant...

Sounds like you might be starting to develop a life up there...

    Happy 4th to you!

PS. It's pretty hot here. 90s every day and often won't go below 75 degrees (F) at night, at least until about right now at daybreak, which is when I'm choosing to do laundry (since my equipment is in the uninsulated garage, the way a lot of old mid-century tract homes are set up, stupidly!!). I'm 'way north of the gardener's cottage, so I imagine it's even hotter down there. So, you're not just cooler where you are up in the mountains, you don't have to have the drought on your mind every single minute. Are you worried about your gardens, though? And, gee, you just painted the cottage and you can't even be there to enjoy it! You two are saints! You don't have to say, if it's too personal, but is Larry an only child? Anybody else to help you?

    1. no he's not an only child but he's the only one with a job that allows him to be anywhere so that's why it's just us.
not too worried about the garden b/c we hired a caretaker who is doing a good job. but i still miss it. xo

  14. You model "the Walmarts" couture so well! I go to Walmart approximately twice a year. Usually within a few hours of each other around Christmas when I'm up all night working on my tree. Also, it's the last place in America you can still find incandescent Christmas lights. I'm sure it was nice to get out for dinner! You know you really should "suggest" your FIL get a sous vide for his kitchen there. It would make the cooking so much easier for you. You can get several meals' proteins all squared away in no time at all. And it makes cooking in quantity way easier, should you want to make big batches to freeze. I made pulled pork for 30 today and did all the prep on weds and had about 15 min of work tonight! I still can't believe they haven't really caught much mainstream popularity.
