chinoisiere chic

Every once in awhile a dress comes along that takes my breath away. The above dress does that.  I love anything and everything chinoisiere.  Does this dress even know how awesome it is?  I can see this in the Spring/Summer and I can see it in the fall with a brown cardigan and at Christmastime with a red cardigan.  I'm sorry if you are right at the start of a no shopping resolution but I have to share this.  eshakti has released their new spring line and they have some very pretty things. So if you are new to their site and would like, you can use this referral link and get a $35 discount on anything from their Spring line. Remember they have ready-to-wear and also custom sizing from 0-36w. This link is only good for new shoppers though.  Damn.

  1. I love everything Chinoiserie too Janet! (my home reflects that) I haven't gone crazy but every room has a touch of it somewhere.

What a beautiful dress...I can envision you wearing it!

I always had a thing for Asian inspired clothing especially when I was younger. When I was in my 20's I remember buying a short kimono while shopping in Laguna Beach, and I made a form fitting dress out of red satin with a mandarin collar. :)

Hope you are having a great weekend!

  2. That dress is beautiful Janet...and you will look lovely in it. My grandmother would say, "That dress will buy you freedom". What she meant is that if you love it that much, you will forget about all the others that float by and it will give you a nice abiding freedom. Yep..frugal, pragmatic, wise, chic Nana Mac said that. And she would have loved you and your Gardener's Cottage.

    2. I poured over them! I hope she posts more of them and perhaps a relative is found. One thing I noticed about the letters: couples back then, in the middle of war, had complete dedication to each other's well-being and welfare. It was almost as though life was so tenuous that the things of real importance were always fore. Good lessons for today's youth, no? But this in no way means that I am against you buying the blue chinoisiere dress. It is so lovely and it actually delighted me to think you may buy it.

  3. Hi Darl, you should buy that dress pronto.

    That is all.

Oh, and for 24 hours my garden was perfect and shone brightly- green, lush, blossoming, weed free, pruned…it's over now but for 1 brief shining moment it rocked.

    Luff you x

  8. This will be perfect for whenever you are in Hawaii next. Blue and white is so versatile and I hope you have one of these already. I was excited to share eshakti with one of my newly-engaged clients as a bridesmaid dress source. We were looking at some of the many options while her hair was processing. I would love to see this used as a bridesmaid's dress.

  9. What a crisply pretty frock Janet. The fact it has pockets and you can envision ways to take it year-round in your closet make it a winner in my book. Think the bodice seaming also gives it great shape and tempers the potential busy factor of print.
