3 days before Christmas I'm in bed with the flu. I missed a beautiful day of lunch and the ballet and instead spent it on the bathroom floor. Today I'm feeling somewhat human again.
One of my very favorite websites I read had a new posting today. They don't post often so it's like a little present. If you are anything like me you will like the entire site. Read here.
Also, Ellie has a new post up today (yay). It's her love story, read it here.
Donna has been writing little stories on the twelve days of Christmas which are so charming.
Read here.
That's all. Hope you are not sick. See you soon. x
Feel better soon - and have a restful Christmas!

Betty

DeleteI missed three days of work last week and had to postpone our Christmas with the kids from last weekend, till next weekend. It's terrible. I'm back at work but, weak as a kitten. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteLisa in Fort Worth
that's exactly how i feel...weak. x
DeleteOh no, hope you pick up before the big day. That is the loveliest room to be sick in Janet.
ReplyDelete15 years and counting since I've even had a cold - it will fell me when it comes.
i had an 8 year streak going. 15 is pretty awesome.
DeleteGet well soon Janet! Very sorry you missed some fun but hopefully you'll be better for Christmas Day. Take care Dollface.xo
ReplyDeletethanks dani. x
Deleteoh no! get well soon! I wish I could meet you and Stephen Andrew for a drink x
ReplyDeleteme too. x
DeleteMe too! Although realistically you guys would have to sit in my kitchen and throw me drinks like a marathon runner because I'm pretty deep in the weeds on my cooking schedule. Spent an extra day decorating that was supposed to be prepping.
DeleteI hope you feel better soon lovely lady. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for introducing me to Ellie. I can't get enough of her. Maybe it's the name. ;)
ReplyDeleteoh me too, don't you love her story today?

ReplyDeletehugs xoxoxoxCatherine
I'm so sorry that you're ill, hope you're better soon. Also, sorry that you missed such a lovely day - the lunch and ballet sounds wonderful. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletePlease, wake up well tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteBecame sick week before Thanksgiving. 3 weeks down, still not 100%.
How to handle this dreadfulness? Loads of art films............cats in my lap, looking at my garden from the windows.
Again, tomorrow, shazam, be well.
XOT
So sorry you are sick. Hope you begin feeling well and get your strength back by Christmas Eve. The flu sure can knock you off your feet for a while.
ReplyDeleteAlso, just wanted to wish you and everyone here a Merry Christmas! I am still so thankful for you and your beautiful blog.
Sincerely,
Debra from SENC
Ayyiyi amiga, no buena. Ok that's all my Spanish, and it's probably all wrong.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're sick, sick sucks and it's hard to realize you won't feel this bad forever.
Just remember it takes a while to get your groove back once you're over the worst.t.
So go easy on yourself, you hear?
xo J
Oh no! I do hope your recovery is speedy. Have a very Merry Christmas....
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're sick. I don't recall ever reading you mentioning being sick before. I'd imagine this is rather rare. So of course it must come right before Christmas! Get well soon. This will shock everyone I'm sure-but I do believe firmly in the healing ways of a hot toddy. And who gives better medical advice than a hairstylist?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm going to say this, considering the deep level at which I emotionally connect with Ellie's views on "fucking LED lights" and her whole tinsel post, but I think today's wasy favorite post yet. I laughed and cried and was so touched. I even had a glimmer of optimism while reconsidering my commitment to spinsterdom. A very rare happening for me! She is such a bright light. And I just love that she is totally unpredictable. I am SO glad you turned me on to her blog. She's probably not because I've emailed her twice already. Merry Christmas!!
Edit: I have a f*****g cold. How the mighty have fallen!
DeleteFigured it would be uncouth to drop fs twice in one comment.
This is, perhaps, retribution for my smug comment about never being sick!
i know what you mean. i was silently counting the 8 years i was not sick b/c i knew if i said anything out loud i'd be jinxed. larry is positive i wasn't even sick. i quit sugar 2 weeks prior and he thinks i was detoxing. who knows?
Deletetake care and get well soon. meanwhile i've accepted your challenge of writing a positive jan 1st post.
I know how dreadful you feel. I had it last week and it had me down and out for 3 days. After that, I rallied bit by bit, but it left me terribly tired. So let yourself rest, because there isn't a whole lot more you can do. In spite of it all, Merry Christmas and a prosperous, peaceful New Year..
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you've been sick! I just got over the flu ... And I got a flu shot!
ReplyDeleteWanted you to know you've been an inspiration to me...I love your blog, sense of style, courage, simplicity in the best possible way...
Most of all, thank you for sharing "The Privileged Addict" with us!
I ordered the book, and I always read the blog.
I'm struggling with a son also.
I wish you were my next door neighbor!!! I have no one to talk to.
thank you. have you tried alanon or families anonymous? they've helped me so much. i look forward to charlies book for everyone, not just the addict. you could email me too. janetkorff@gmail.com
DeleteI hope you feel better soon and have a Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are sick Janet...no fun at all!! Especially right around Christmas. I was very lucky this year, no colds or flu. I did feel a little crummy for a day right after having my flu shot which I hear is not unusual. That was my second flu shot ever, always passed on them before.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon and have a wonderful Christmas!
Linda

ReplyDeleteVery sorry you've been down with the flu. No fun. Maybe the next couple of days will brighten things up; just take it easy.
ReplyDeleteJanet, I want to thank you for all of your wonderful posts in the past year and I hope 2015 brings you happiness. Because you deserve it. I appreciate your loving kindness and the fine example you set, by just being the good person that is you.
I do hope you are feeling better real soon. I can handle sore throats, migraines...they have become my life, and ear aches, but gosh darn it, don't mess with my stomach.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jill
Hope you're feeling well enough to enjoy Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you're not feeling well, Janet! Wishing you a speedy recovery, and a very Merry Christmas! :)
ReplyDeleteHave the flu, type A, just diagnosed yesterday. As I lay frying with a temp of 103, I thanked God I don't live in a third world country...................that I have access to doctors, Tamiflu (which is helping), cough medicine, etc. Oh my, how Christmas plans have changed. Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Feel better soon and hope you manage to enjoy some of the festive season, just a bit later than expected. xxxx
ReplyDeleteGet well soon and I wish you a peaceful, just merry enough Christmas:). And a serene and happy New Year.
