well hello.
i just got back last night and i have a hardcore case of jet lag.
i honestly don't know how to sort the 1500 or so pictures i took over 21 days but i'm gonna start with england and what i and the english seem to love most...boxwood.
it's the first thing i noticed when i walked into my hotel room in london and i noticed it wherever i went. i'm so in love with boxwood paired with the color black.
so classic, so good.
so please enjoy these few pictures and give me a couple of days to sort my photos and thoughts.
for sure i'll be sharing the lowdown on my wardrobe...what worked and what didn't.
also, so many gorgeous gardens, the french open, paris, provence and finally the french riviera.
geez i cannot believe i saw all that but i did.
see you soon.
oh and i do hope all is well with you.
xo
Fabulous photos Janet, particularly like the Cheval Place one, you have a real eye. So glad you are back safe and sound after all your adventures, it was so nice to meet you - seems ages ago now xxx
ReplyDeleteLucky you! Can't wait to see more; I love all things English :)

How lovely that you are home! That hotel room was really good wasn't it? I spend a lot of time thinking about how good that trip was and how much fun we had.
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see more of your photos.
I still haven't blogged aout my wardrobe, Kiftsgate or Great Dixter, but I plan to!
Enjoy being at home and I am very happy that we have finally met, xxxx
I was just wondering today if you'd be posting soon or if you'd made up your mind to stop blogging! Happy to see your post and photos! Can not wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Lovely pictures. I'm anxious to see more.
ReplyDeleteI love your eye.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back.
Welcome home! So many blue skies over the days, lucky you!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone talk about this issue with boxwood and the small butterfly called the Cydalima perspectalis. It harms boxwood so badly, in Austria gardeners don't renew the damaged plants with boxwood since no solution for this problem has been found yet. One could say it became a hype - in a negative way.
Maybe the plants in the UK overcame this disease?
Your first photos look very promising, I am looking forward to seeing more from your big trip.
You have been missed!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. Beautiful hotel room. Beautiful boxwood.
If I ever live in an apartment with a balcony, on the balcony will be three boxwood trees in elegant black containers. And on the boxwood trees, from November through February, will be sparkling white fairy lights. And in the summer will be two potted blue hydrangeas between the three boxwood trees.
But enough about boxwood. Am quite eager to hear about your wardrobe.
Welcome back!
kris
Lovely to have you back.
ReplyDeleteFab photos...I am positively drooling at the thought of 1500 more!!
Can't wait to see them, but in the meantime, have a good sleep!

Please do a long post on Dixter.
ReplyDeleteDid you meet Fergus?
You know, all the important things!

Welcome back Janet! It was so much fun to catch little glimpses of you on FF's blog; looking forward to hearing all about your trip from you!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! You were missed.
ReplyDeleteFunny and timely post - was planning to paint a bunch of my planters black this weekend - if it ever stops raining long enough on the East Coast.
Glad you are safe & sound! So looking forward to the photos of your adventure abroad!!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hearing about your trip, but those pictures did the "tide us over" job very nicely.
ReplyDeleteVERY beautiful!!
Looking forward to more...
ReplyDeletewe have boxwood and I love it too.
Especially in black containers.
Sleep well and so happy to see that you are home safe and sound.
Hugs,
Leslie
I have been looking forward to your return. I will be very interested in your wardrobe "what worked what didn't". I really like your pared down, elegant look in your home and I am guessing you used this approach in your travel wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to see the French Open on the French part of your trip; were the tickets hard to get?
thank you.
Janet so good to see you, you must be exhausted! We rely on boxwood because nothing else lasts long /survives the miserable weather!
ReplyDeleteIt is so lovely seeing your photos .... it reminds me of the wonderful things that we saw and did. Rest up, jet lag is the price one pays for the adventure. Paula x
ReplyDeleteYour photos of London bring back so many happy memories!
ReplyDeleteVictoria x
Welcome back Janet - apologies for the crap European Spring - not sure what is up with that this year. Looking forward to pictures and written reports of your adventure

Welcome home! Hope you recover from the jetlag quick! Lovely pictures so far! Looking forward to more and hearing about your trip. How did the vegan diet do over there? Rest and relax, funny to say after a vacation, but sometimes we need to come home to do that.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to have you back and looking forward to your pictures, especially Provence. Get some rest! I was quite tired upon returning from Ireland last fall, but shook the jet lag fairly quickly. Hope you do too.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see you again Janet....have been missing your chat! Have you been to the plant shop yet to get started cultivating box, box and more box.....remember you can never have too much?! And what about to the hardware shop to look at paint swatches?! Can't wait to hear about your time in France. Rx
ReplyDeleteDear Janet
DeleteLovely to see your first blog on return. Look forward to posts about France. Also to see what you're going to do with the beautiful Rugosa panel from Designers' Guild. Loved it so much myself I bought a metre + from the Rugosa roll - not the panel - thank you so much for telling me about it! Will probably cut out the rose arrangements to applique on cushions.
Jet lagged too, arrived back in Sydney yesterday and loving visit with son and family here before return home. So lovely to have met you on the tour. Cheers to Romy and FF too! Warmest wishes, Pamela
Leave it to you to start with something seemingly as simple as boxwood and then blow us all away with your photos!
ReplyDeleteI thought you'd never get back.
I was getting tired of seeing pictures of you with no head.
Welcome back lovely head.
xo Jane
We were in Paris at the end of May; beautiful city; wonderful people....but that weather! Mercy! My jet lag lasted about a week...But the trip was so worth it! Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back , interested in your vegan eating too
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePerfection. I love nothing more than the formality of boxwood beside a crisp black door. The damn stuff won't grow here, which makes me sad. But I am super happy you had such a fabulous trip and cannot wait to hear more. xo Terri
ReplyDeleteJanet; kept track of you a little bit! Would go over to Faux's site as you'd advised; then a hint of things going on at Library of Design (J.'s). Drooling here...DROOLING...over all that you ladies got to see and do; can't wait to hear about it (take your time; it'll make for lots of great posts). Yes, you have to go thru your photos pretty quickly lest you forget all the details since you saw so much and did so much. Get some sleep!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home, Janet! I love those lush, green boxwoods and your hotel room looks lovely. Enjoyed your photos and look forward to reading more about your trip.

BTW, what a lovely, tasteful hotel room. I just never saw anything in England that WASN'T in good taste, though. The Brits know how to do it up right. I'm always in awe. Civility. Reserve. Etiquette. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteIm a new follower and have been waiting for your return, checking every few days recently.
ReplyDeleteLovely pics....cant wait for more.
Sleep well; welcome home.
:)

Beautiful pictures Janet especially the ones with you in them!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! Omg. That shade of blue door against the white borel (sp?) brick. Gorgeous!! Missed your blogging but also enjoyed the thought of your vacation most fabulous when I would check here hoping for a glimpse :)
ReplyDeleteOh so pleased to see you are back safe and sound dear Janet... Gorgeous photographs too.. I just LOVE boxwood too.. You are looking wonderful and very chic as ever. Sorry about the jet lag - I know all about how awful that is ! S x
ReplyDeleteI like the looks of boxwood but it smells like cat pee....uck!

Janet, I'm so glad your home safe. Can't wait to see everything and to know how your wardrobe worked--we're going to Paris in Sept/Oct and I'm depending on you! xoxox, Allegra
ReplyDeleteWelcome back - look forward to reading about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteI have a black front door and I love it - classic and elegant. Are you still thinking of painting your house white with black accents?
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about you the other day and thinking you'd be back soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the three pots of boxwood in the window box. It's a very modern application.
Great photos Janet, boxwood so neat and clipped looks fabulous. Happy memories of a great tour and looking forward to seeing more of your English and French adventures, best wishes
ReplyDeleteNice photos, Janet. I see what you mean about boxwood in black containers -- very chic. Looking forward to seeing more photos from your trip. Glad you had a great time and are home safely.
ReplyDeleteClaudia
Amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures all. The last one I love ~ your gorgeous profile, those cool colors, and the pop of red from the tulips. Perfect!
