1 chambray 8 ways

While doing laundry yesterday I was thinking just how much I love this chambray shirt.  I've owned it for 5/6 years now and it gets better and better with each wash (I always wash in cold and line dry.) I sifted through 6 years of blog photos and came up with 8 different looks all with this exact shirt on. At the bottom of the post I listed a few links to some pretty chambray's in case you don't own one but want to fix that.  Also noted is just how much I miss my garden.

  1. 2 observations: LUV the plaid/kilt! I like your look SO much better with your hair longer which proves as we age that we don't HAVE to cut our hair although, of course, you'd be stylish rocking a mohawk, so...

    1. I assume you're hearing every bad detail about this week's SoCal heatwave. At 6:15am, hundreds of tiny clouds and was already 82 degrees here, north of the gardener's cottage. Brutal, intense heat; be prepared your beautiful garden may have suffered slightly (I've lost SO many plants and our town recently put out an article for people to at least try to keep their trees watered under restriction because we're losing too many trees). When you return to SoCal, it will probably look pretty bad with all the dead lawns after you being surrounded by all that lush green for the past months. I just pray for that El Nino rain. It did pour in parts of SoCal yesterday but not where I am.

    2. thanks vicki. yes, i get daily reports of the heat which is so distressing. my garden is suffering just like everyone's under water rationing and the heat so i'm prepared. let's hope el nino does the trick for the poor drought ridden west. x

  2. I'm always so happy to see your blog posts! Chambray is the best "neutral" in my closet as well - it goes with everything!

Am I the only one waiting to see updates on your son and new daughter-in-law's home renovation? Hoping your life returns to normal soon - you must be missing your own home by now.

  6. Mh... I think I do have the same shirt... And I love it... And it doesn't need ironing, that's probably my favorite bit.... I might be the only one who loves your shorter hair - but I am always biased when it comes to hair length as I have a pixie cut :-)

  7. I think women look great in chambray. It bugs me on men for some reason. My favorite is with the tartan skirt. Saw the first photo and thought you were home! Soon, I hope.

  11. Like Stephen Andrew, I saw that first picture and thought you were back home! Love the chambray shirt and thanks to you for the link I ordered the one from JCrew Factory a couple weeks ago. What a good price and what a nice shirt. Thank you for all your great ideas and the links you provide as well. Hope you get to return home real soon and that your garden has held up okay without you.

  12. You are the Queen of Chambray. And in a way we are all missing our gardens, the drought has put them all into hibernation:(. That said, your time away from home must be getting tougher and tougher to absorb. xox.

  14. I am another who ordered one from J. Crew when it was going for such a great price. It is still too warm where I am to wear it now, but the temperatures are getting cooler and I am looking forward to putting it to great use this fall and winter. I too hope you will be home soon!

  16. Nothing less then a super model.... I think you could sell all of us on 8 ways to where a brown paper bag and still pull it off in super style!

We over here, my daughter and I both have our favorites as well, we love the look and we dress ours up and down, with fake faux gems and ratty wholly tattered jeans. I bet you are so happy to be home, and all the dusting you had to catch up on was a welcome sight for sure.
We are extra happy to see you home, we get to share in your gardeners cottage beauty and inspiration.

    See you soon dear,
Thank you for sharing your time over at my place, it's always a welcoming sight to see your comments.

    Xx
    Blessed days ahead of you.

  17. Now this was so cool. I have a beloved chambray shirt and I need to get more creative.
My fav look is the black pants and the leopard shoes. Oh, but I also like the one with the jeans and tucked in boots. Love them all really! Hope FIL is still getting better!

  19. I love it when you model outfits for us- such a gorgeous over-50 model, and it reminds me I don't have to give up. I hope I'm not the only woman in the world who buys something and gets into a rut with wearing it only a couple of ways... over and over. That's why your outfit post are so helpful- accessible clothes, well styled. Brava!

  21. My favorite is with the chambray + animal print loafers and black jeans (if you are keeping a tally, lol). Wow, what a trooper you are, it must be tough to miss the changing seasons. Btw, I thought I remember a photo of your chambray paired with a vintage sequin dress? I think it was a white and black shift type dress? So maybe you came up with 9 ways? You're pretty creative!

  23. Your blog is a lovely picture of your life. I have truly been inspired over the last two years to adopt some of your ideas. Such as enjoying my home to the fullest, clearing clutter and having a better skincare routine. I am just naming a few..;)
I know your FIL has been very blessed to have you all with him but there is no place like home.
