Hello dear reader. I know. I know. Thank you for all the messages and your concern. I've been at odds with this blog for a year now. What to do, what to do? I've had a lot of trouble just posting and also with Instagram. They kept deleting my account saying it contained inappropriate content. I mean every few weeks it would happen and I'd have to jump through hoops to see if they'd allow me back in. Finally I said, you win, I'm out. Blogger has different issues. They constantly change the posting prompts etc. Honestly it is exhausting. But I felt bad bc I know some of you were worried about me. I'm here to say I'm fine. The past year has been pretty good. I'm just gonna let you see for yourself. Don't be shocked but I changed the wallpaper in my bedroom and I love it. I also had some recent Mohs surgery for skin cancer that was not fun at all. The rest is garden and lots of fashion. I hope you are all ok and again I so appreciate your concern. I hope to keep writing bc it is probably good for me. x
Oh! And this is my granddaughter on her first magazine cover!
Love you all. I made it posting this but not without a lot of frustration. But I did it and it's a start. x

Just a joy to see this post. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your post. It was wonderful to catch up and read all is well with you.
ReplyDeleteJanet - so lovely to see a post from you! I use a free service called blogtrottr to get email notifications of vlogs on YouTube, but it also works for blogs. I was so happy to see your post; you are looking marvellous! I'm sure it's quite difficult to start posting again if you haven't been on for a while, but I'm sure that all your readers will be just as happy to see you as I am. Take good care.x
ReplyDeleteThrilled to see your post! Hope you are healing well from the Moh’s. They’re not gentle, are they. At least you know they got it all. Your grand daughter is beautiful. I’d love to hear about her journey to the cover. Be well, Janet.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this post. I sometimes wonder how you are. Wishing you a full recovery. Your granddaughter is beautiful. Rita
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see you again, and know you are well. The new wallpaper is gorgeous, and the Cottage garden absolutely splendid. Ouch! re the skin cancer, and I hope you have a good recovery. We have a lot of it here in Queensland (too much sun!). Your granddaughter is a stunner, you must be so proud of her. I had a long break from blogging but am giving it another go. All the best for health and happiness in 2026. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise! Thank you for pushing through the frustration of maintaining this blog. It is such a bright spot in these awful times. I love love your new bedroom and the glimpses of your peaceful home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet surprise to see your post! Thank you, you were missed 💕
ReplyDeleteI opened up my Feedly to see today’s now posts and my mouth dropped!!! Talk about one of the best things to see first thing in the morning on a cold grey day in January. I have missed your inspiration!!! I have said this before but I want to say it again. I have many blogs I follow. Yours is hands down the best!!!! Something about your simplicity- classy way to do things- the way you live your life and let’s not forget that house of yours! Chefs kiss. So you can imagine my excitement! So glad you hung in there for us. Also I LOVE your new wallpaper and your granddaughter? I definitely can see you in her. She’s beautiful!!!! Thanks Janet for posting!!!!

ReplyDeleteSo happy to see your post this morning! The wallpaper is lovely, as is your granddaughter. Always an inspiration. Darby
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise to see you posting.. You are so inspirational in so many ways and it's always a pleasure to read and see your column. As always, everything is beautiful including you and your granddaughter! Would love to see a picture of you at the same age.....I'll bet you are identical...xo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful surprise to have your update, beautiful granddaughter, beautiful wallpaper, beautiful garden, beautiful you. Johanna
ReplyDeleteHello, Janet! The wallpaper is absolutely beautiful. This is the first time I have seen your bedroom without the gallery wall - I like it. So sorry about the Mohs (been there, done that and fortunately my scar is now nearly impossible to see). Instagram was my only social media and I deleted my account last week because I found myself spending way too much time on it and it also bothered me how much they knew about me. In just a week I am amazed at much time I have regained for myself. The magazine cover must be very exciting for your granddaughter. So nice to see you pop up again.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to see your post! I retired in May and one of the first things I did was go back through every single post on your blog. I was afraid you were going to take it down. I love everything about your decorating! Would you mind sharing the name of the wallpaper? It's just lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou baccccck, I'm sooo happy, good for you, good for all of us who have missed you, too! Your granddaughter is gorgeous just like you, her beautiful grandmother. I adored your old wallpaper but I love the new, I'm drawn to birds lately, too, and this new print is lighter, airier and a bit more feminine. Your style is impeccable and as always, you simply do not age! I inherited a black painted desk from my mom that has seen some wear and tear but you'r desk inspired me to leave well enough alone because when I open the lid, I still smell lmy mom's cologne! Take care!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise to see a post from you! I recently looked back at your organizing series for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! 🤍
I was so delighted to see a post from you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden; your lovely fashions, your stunning granddaughter. I hope you are healing well from your surgery. I hope you continue to post as your blog is always like a breath of fresh air. I have learned so much from you over the years about living simply but elegantly- thank you so much for that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat!!! I thought I would “ check in “ and you had a new post!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos… your Granddaughter is just beautiful!
You look wonderful, as always!
Michelle
So excited to see your post, Janet! I check your blog every now and then in hopes that there will be a new post. Thank you for this! Your blog is still my favorite. There is nothing else that even comes close!
ReplyDeleteLove the new wallpaper and the fresh look of your bedroom. Also, your granddaughter is beautiful!
Hope to see more of you in the new year!
Judy
Lovely to see you back!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you posting. Your house and yard is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you’re ok! I missed your posts. I LOVE the wallpaper! And your granddaughter is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI check your blog once in a while, just in case and, although I thought the last post was the year-old one, I was so happy to see your update. Hope you had a happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteOn a whim I entered your site and there you were! So happy to see a new post and that you are well. Look forward to updates.
ReplyDeleteYou, your house and your garden are still so stylish! If you are going to keep posting I would love to hear about your food choices now as I seem to recall that you were a vegan. I have had 3 lots of mohs surgery on my face, I remember the needles being the worst part of it. A lifetime of being in the sun unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see you! - Deane
ReplyDeleteso glad you're back
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely surprise on a wet, miserable January day in the North of England. I have missed your posts and am still trying to follow your Simplicity of One. Please keep posting if you can. Much love xx
ReplyDeleteJanet I am thrilled that you are posting again...you've probably no idea how much you have been missed!
ReplyDeleteThe wallpaper is exquisite, your taste is above and beyond. Sorry to hear about the MOHS...good to have it done.
Wow! How proud you must be...your granddaughter is lovely.
XO
We have missed you. I love everything about your blog. So happy to see your new post. Your granddaughter is beautiful just like her grandmother.
ReplyDeleteOh yay, you are here! I was sooo happy to see your post today, thank you Janet for working through the blog issues and sharing your photos with us! Where to begin? First, you are an Irish beauty. You look just gorgeous and the makeup-free Mohs face is the prettiest! I'm so sorry for the skin cancer; I remember that you had an incident a long time ago. I had a basal cell on my nose, but didn't have the Mohs, and even though I was told it had a 50% chance of returning, it never has, knock on wood. I've always hated sunblock on my face, and I've always followed the sun.........
ReplyDeleteYour home's style and your fashion have merged. All quiet neutrals, vintage, something that whispers and causes you to see more the more you study. I love the new bedroom look. Pure peace. It's just so nice to see your beautiful home and your cool outfits once again. Did I mention I so appreciate you coming back to show us? ;-D
And, three cheers for your lovely granddaughter; how excited she must be and how proud you must be of her!
Erina
Great to hear from you again Janet- always love to hear what's going on and see your beautiful photos and outfits. I check your blog every day as part of my routine, what a delight to see you today. My husband had the Mohs procedure, in almost the exact same place. As someone else said, a lifetime in the sun, especially here in So. Calif. Take care. Over the years I have caught up on (and reread) all your posts.
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a happy surprise to see your post! Yours has always been one of my very favorite accounts - I'm glad you were finally able to publish. Even with the Mohs surgery you look wonderful! Your new wallpaper is perfect! And, your granddaughter is just beautiful! I wish it wasn't so frustrating for you to create a post because it's so good to hear from you. I'm happy to read that you're well. Kathy xo
ReplyDeleteP. S. Your garden looks fabulous!!!! Kathy
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see you! I check on you often. I was so disappointed when your instagram went blank. Frustrating for you, I am sure. I have followed you from the very beginning (2008 ?) and have gone back to the archives repeatedly. You look beautiful as always, and also peaceful. Your home and garden look spectacular. Your granddaughter is gorgeous, like her grandmother. Delighted you are well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise to see your blog again! I have really missed your posts as I love your style and personality. Looking forward to more. Also, your granddaughter is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited to see a new post from you. I always loved your former wallpaper but, dare I say, this one may be even more beautiful! The lone painting is lovely as well, where your gallery wall once was. I also liked the fashion shots. I always gather inspiration from your classic pieces. You must be so proud of your gorgeous grand-daughter. I hope you are able to continue to post as I always feel better about the world after reading your blog. Joyce
ReplyDeleteOh Janet how wonderful to have you back! You have been missed so very much! You look lovely and never seem to age. Your home and garden specular-so peaceful and love, love the new wallpaper. I see your lovely granddaughter takes after you - beautiful. So thankful you are ok despite the cancer scare...even with your scars you look lovely! Thank you Janet for coming back to us! Please stay, please continue...oxoxox Muriel
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise in these dark days! I always check back hoping.
ReplyDeleteHi beautiful Janet! Your fashion and design sense are perfect, as always, and your garden is glorious. Congrats to your granddaughter, that's huge, and I am so glad to hear you are doing OK.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see a post from you Janet. I adore your new wallpaper and you've inspired me to do something similar in my bedroom. I hope 2026 is good to you!
ReplyDeleteAlways good to hear from you. Sue D.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see a post - I check in from time to time but missed this one! I just love your blog and have read it through three times! I collected your writing on simplicity and they have helped me so much in identifying who I am. Please keep writing from time to time. Anything - even your grocery list! (Remember the 99 cent store?). Waving from across the Atlantic, love Anna.
ReplyDeleteThis is so strange but I suddenly thought of you and couldn’t remember your name. (Sorry). Then after going through the alphabet this morning, it hit me like a bolt. I love your home and thought you were a brave and lovely woman. I’m so glad I found you and am amazed that your granddaughter has grown into such a beautiful young woman. Time is really flying . Take care and it was so nice to see you again.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see a post from you again! Wonderful pictures. Lovely granddaughter. Hope you post again soon or sooner! I've missed your updates and musings.
ReplyDeleteOops! Forgot! Loved your previous bedroom wallpaper. Love the new one as well!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad to see you again! I have your post about organizing the house (part 2) on my desktop all the time. When I don't feel like cleaning or weeding through stuff in my house, it inspires me. You look great. Love the wallpaper! Please post when you can - I think you can tell we all missed you!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to see your post, and so happy you are well and thriving. Happy 2026.
ReplyDeleteLove your posts! Blessings to you from Ohio❤️
ReplyDeleteYou're back! Yay! My favorite blogger.
ReplyDelete🩷 Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteHi Janet, I took a chance to see if you had posted and there you were! So happy to hear from you again. I almost emailed you to see if you were okay but I had seen you comment back to someone months ago that you were just busy. You are looking lovely as usual and your garden is beautiful. Love the new wallpaper too. Sorry to hear about your MOHS surgery...my sister had the procedure last year for a basal cell on her nose and her incision on her face was twice as long. A few months later I could hardly see the scar.
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughter is beautiful...you must be so proud!
