these boots

Remember these booties from February 2013?  and here?  Well I thought I'd do a post about how they are holding up.  It's 3 1/2 years later and I probably love them more than the day they arrived in the mail.  These are by far the hardest, longest wearing vegan shoes I've owned, and they have just gotten more comfortable over the years, like an old pair of cowboy boots.  For fun I checked to see if Amazon still sells them and shockingly they do.  Right here, the Madden Girl Bootie.

Out and about at the local farmers market on Saturday

I've gotten quite a few inquiries about this Target cross body bag.  I bought it for my trip to Europe back in the Spring of 2013 and use it all the time.  It's perfect for travel and also for trips to flea and farmers markets because it allows for hands free shopping. Target now has a similar version in stripes that is super cute.  It's so nice that vegan options for shoes and handbags keep getting better and better.  x

  1. Janet I was going to ask about the bag, loving the look with your style.... We would look like twins standing next to each other. You dress just like me, or I should say I dress just like you :)

Love that the boots have lasted so well, I am reall hard on shoes, wearing the ones of love the most so very often tend to wear out so much faster. Nice to see you out and about, off the mountain and shopping for fresh veggies and such.

    See you soon

Off to Yarget today, I need to see the tote that compliments yours.

    Xx

  2. The first photo...I looked at that and thought, is that Janet or some 20-year-old she took a photo of at the Farmer's Market? Seriously. Age is just a number when it comes to you!

Ugh, I do SO wish I had a local/nearby Farmer's Market, but I don't. You wouldn't think such a thing could happen in ag-rich SoCal, would you...

Thanx for the link on Target's crossbody bag; unfortunately, the boots are only left in Size 10 on Amazon. But, yes, anytime bags/shoes can be vegan, terrific. I was dismayed to see the fall line (plaids; a lot of plaids) for Kate Spade showing use of fur and there was nothing to indicate it was fake. I've read that fake is expensive to manufacture, so that's why the fashion industry persists in using animal fur. I'd hoped that trend from last fall/winter was over but, no, the fashion houses don't seem to be singing any new tunes...although there's always Stella McCartney (but who can afford her?!).

Glad you can get out & about; the sojourn down the mountain into civilization...

  10. I still don't understand the concept of "vegan" shoes/bags - does that just mean they're plastic or fabric? I loathe any kind of synthetic footwear…
But then I don't get vegan either, so stamp me as a philistine!! ;)
    You look very trendy, anyway.

  16. The farmers market looks gorgeous! And you look fab navigating it. My farmers market finally has all the summer produce I've been awaiting. So I looked like a mule this past Saturday with three bags packed to the gills. I don't quite have your effortless weekender look going. Not to mention that I almost tripped over someone's wayward peach on the sidewalk. Wouldn't that have been a sight?! Hopefully my hair would have caught the wind like a sail and stopped me from falling too hard. You're certainly in prettier parts of Utah than my brother. The only photos he's sent that look as verdant as where you are were taken in Alta (which is not spelled like Ulta Beauty, I've been corrected).

    1. I've got friends (native Californians) who decided decades ago that the only place they ever wanted to snow ski was in Alta. Maybe some places in Utah (Colorado, too) are as pretty in summer as the winters they're better known for; I personally found that to be true of Aspen where I enjoyed a lovely Spring/Summer. I just read, coincidentally, that the food personality/restaurateur Guy Fieri says Salt Lake City is one of his favorite food cities. He's known on TV as lov'in the dives but he apparently studied French cuisine even when he was a kid.

    2. as always SA you are too awesome. i'm def in the prettiest part of utah although maybe other parts would argue that. i was balancing a peach on top of my coffee cup just prior to L snapping that pic so there you go! Ulta, Alta, both pretty. :)

  19. Right now I'm wearing a pair of b.o.c. Born Concept sandals that I didn't even realize are vegan until a few minutes ago. I love these sandals. They are so comfy and I had no idea they weren't made of leather, because they look like leather. I love your vegan booties and might just have to check them out! You look very hip in your worn jeans and white tee.

  22. Janet, You are living proof that you don't have to spend a fortune to look fabulous!!! I bet you were the hottest looking 50-something year old there. :)

I was at Target this morning and purchased the prettiest statement necklace reduced to $10.00.!! It's not cheap looking either... (some of them were) actually looks like I could have bought it at Banana Republic. It looks great with my black t shirt and white jeans.

Glad to see you have access to a nice farmer's market.

    1. I emailed the pic to you from Target's website, let me know if you didn't receive it. Sadly it's still $20.00 on line...still a good deal though. I could always see if there are any left next time I go and I could buy it for you and mail it to you. :) Funny the reviews were all 5 stars. It really is stunning!
