The Blush of Fall

I've been loving the soft blush color that has been everywhere lately.  I'd love a car in this blush pink. Why don't women design cars?  How beautiful would it be to get into a blush car with black and white cabbage rose interior?  lol, that'll never happen. But the next best thing has been adding little touches here and there of this lovely blush around the house.

I've done it with pillows, flowers and candles.

These are the same pillow covers that Country Living used in my living room.  They are washed velvet and I love them.  They are so well constructed and the fabric is thick.  Here is the exact color I'm using, Mauve.

I paired the blush pillow with a couple of black and white cabbage rose pillows I made early in the year from a fabric remnant I had. I love the way they look together!

The farmers market had huge bundles of this blush colored stock so I sprinkled them throughout the house.

This past weekend I was wandering around Williams Sonoma and found this pink grapefruit candle which is divine.  I would never have thought that pink would look so lovely in fall decor but it totally works for me.

For some easy and inexpensive ways to add some blush to your life here are some pretty links...

  2. So interesting...and beautiful. I've never stopped to consider the blush of Fall. I always associate autumn with the brighter oranges and reds. So, you've got an original idea there for me, along with a cabbage-rose interior for a car! Love how your brain works...

  4. We'll, having been a mechanical designer for 25 years, I have to say that women probably do design cars! Why they haven't insisted on this luscious color is beyond me, though. I would go so far as to say it could work as a neutral, wouldn't you?

    1. absolutely a neutral. i know women design cars but i guess i meant that men dominate that field, you can tell just by getting in a car! i would love to see a womans touch in car design. xo

I see mention of Sonoma - do you live in the area? It's a wonderful and magical place, I was there 10 years ago.

  10. Every time I get in my car I wonder, too, because if a woman designed a car - it would have a rectangular shaped bucket type empty space between the two front seats for a bag or personal belongings!!! I would love to be able to drop my bag in that slot and have good access to it at all times! My choices for forty years have been the passenger seat if no one is sitting there, the passenger floorboard where it dumps over and slides towards the door and out of reach or behind me in the back floorboard where I can only get to it by stopping the car and getting out. Am I the only one? It's quite fun to have to explain to law enforcement that I need to get OUT of my car to get to my I.D. Maybe I am the only one who struggles with this.

    1. I recently rented a 2016 Toyota Sienna van. My DIL informed me that Toyota had asked for input from Mommies, the highest demographic for driving the van. So, YES! There is a large "bucket" space w/lid between the front two seats AND a floor tray to place my purse. There were other interior features she pointed out that made Mommy-driving easier. I loved driving it and am planning to purchase one for me, the grandma!

I do own a soft blush t shirt with a few roses along the neck I've worn in summer. Bought at thrift.
