Sunday

How much do you love this fabric?  It's Osborne and Little Lomasi.  I have no idea where I saved this photo from but wow how gorgeous.

I ordered mine and cannot wait to get my hands on these jeans from Everlane.  40,000 people were on the waitlist. At $69 a pair for premium Japanese denim and made in this factory, I'm beyond thrilled to always support Everlane.  As soon as I get mine I'll post about them.  In case you want to try a pair for yourself you can use my code  HERE I will get credit if you purchase anything so if that bothers you just order directly through their website:)

Some of you were interested in the wallpaper at Palihouse.  I tracked it down and this is the manufacturer...Abnormals Anonymous.  I'm seriously in love with this one...

And as much I love living in this small house, THIS lovely makeover of a rental home gets me thinking...hmmm.

Wishing you a peaceful Sunday and love and prayers to Texas and Florida and to everyone else who needs them. xoxo

  1. You've tracked down some dramatic and unique papers and fabric, I'd be happy, nay ecstatic, to have my home (or me!) draped in any (or all!) of them.
Black jeans, just what is there not to love about them?
And if we're talking love, then I'd just like to add that I'm loving that you're posting so frequently, you brighten up my autumnal days!

Thinking of those hanging on in the Caribbean and your southern states.
    X.

  2. The Chicago Greystone is lovely but if given a choice, I would choose the gardener's cottage, hands down, any time. It's minimalist elegance...spare and beautiful, every inch.

Love the beautiful wallpaper! I also really enjoyed the wonderful brownstone. Your post always brighten my day! I've been ridding out and bringing in touches of Fall and re did my closet with the change of seasons. Cost? Zero
But brings a bit of fresh air!

  4. I loved looking at the rental. Amazing transformative power of paint. I love her palette of black/white with pops of green (and even with copper in the dining room). I have a fave photo of the exterior of a home painted white with black shutters/black front door, brass light standards, with a gorgeous green boxwood/topiary on either side of the front door. It is SO elegant; understatedly elegant. Crisp; clean. Refined-looking; sophisticated. Just love those color combos. Or an old-fashioned black/white checkerboard tile floor (big squares) with a big green fern spilling out of a large planter-pot over to the side (like maybe in a vintage urn). Sigh; so beautiful.

Thought of your cottage yesterday, Janet. Went by a house I know, which was always...benign; non-descript; fading into the background. Painted white with I think pale-beige trims like door, window frames. Blah. Washed-out. Not anything you'd really notice. Wow. Somebody new moved in and painted the home exterior the darkest chocolate brown you can imagine; almost a brown-black, and now with bright-white-yet-creamy trims. It's like, oh, there's a house there; I cannot BELIEVE what definition it gave to that home; I want to move in. I have to say, I had some unspoken doubts when you left the red of your cottage for the darker color but, of course, as is usual with anything you touch(!), it turned out so perfectly; perfect.

Really enjoyed seeing the greystone and learning about Everygirl.

Gotta say, though...as I'm aging? I'm getting kinda tired of tweaking. It's like, get the room right...and be content...except for small accessory change-outs or seasonal decor. I'm not finding the need in me anymore to keep fussing with it. I'm visiting the thrifts less, too. I think it's because I continue to be in major downsizing mode...the downsizing that never seems to end...so I resist the concept of 'more' as I try to simplify in all things/all areas of my life. Just have been noticing my own personal shift.

    1. thanks vicki for the story about the dark painted cottage. some days i wish i had painted it white but others i'm so happy with it dark, in fact i wish it was a tad darker. i don't know that i'll ever stop fussing with my stuff bc it's therapeutic to me but i def am noticing that it takes something really special or it must fill a need in order for it to cross my threshold here. thanks for sharing! x

  5. Wow 40,000 people waiting for those jeans seems unbelievable!
I do want to see them on you Janet as they are such a versatile basic workhorse in any wardrobe...you can style them so many ways.
It's overwhelming watching the news and seeing the devastation of the recent wild weather events...
but heartwarming hearing how people are working together to help each other.
Hope you have a great week.

  6. I'm in LOVE with the rental you showed. I love brownstones decorated with contemporary touches. Love the new/old mix so much and it's what I have tried to achieve in my own home. For example, the French antique looking mirror above the mantel is the perfect juxtaposition with all the modern elements in the room. I'll never throw out my vintage and antique items, but one style is just too boring for me! Okay, I'm seeing the Everlane jeans everywhere. Such a good price from a good company, but I can already tell they will be too high waisted for my taste. Hope you enjoy cause I know you will rock them Janet!

    1. gosh i love that rental too. so many great ideas that most people could incorporate into a rental, with owner's permission of course. i loved it all but the kitchen and baths were my favorite bc they were just changed with paint! x

  7. P.S. Janet....have you seen Jeanne Oliver's home? She does a great mix of cottage/farmhouse with modern touches. Go to her blog at JeanneOliverDesigns. Try searching "Our New Home" or "Home Tour". But if you scroll through her blog, she is constantly adding photos of her very cool place!

    1. i just looked and wow how pretty thanks for the suggestion. i meant to add up there that you may want to consider everlane's boyfriend jean and also they have a mid rise skinny. you are right, high waist is best for me bc i'm long waisted. mine still haven't arrived so i have to be patient. lol x
