Outfit of the Week

Happy first day of Fall to you.  Where has this year gone?  We've been having the most beautiful weather and the forecast says it's continuing.  Yay.

I've been furiously working on sorting my closet as I do with each season.  It's a favorite pastime of mine:)  I have a big fat juicy post coming up that answers questions like...Why did my clothes shrink in this closet and how to add elastic to everything.

A few weeks ago I was at one of my favorite 2nd hand stores here in Redlands.  I about fainted when I spotted these Gucci horse bit loafers.  I did my best to keep my cool but when I flipped them over to see the size I may have cried.  Size 7 perfect fit, $16.

I also found these vintage cotton canvas painters pants at the same place.  So Gucci loafers and some old mans pants make a perfect fall outfit for me.  If you don't have such vintage stores in your area but like the look here are some options...

  2. Finding a good buy is a thrill. While I was visiting San Francisco last week I went in a Goodwill to waste sometime. I found a cashmere turtleneck sweater for $5.99. It was made by a company S. Fisher and made in Scotland. It was in perfect condition. I looked it up and the company went out of business 20 years ago. So sweater has been around for awhile, but is in great shape. I am thrilled too! Now it just has to get cold enough to wear it.

  3. Looking pretty, Janet and with a classy look reminiscent of Jackie O! A girl should never find herself without the classics of black t shirt, white jeans and big specs. Amazing bargains, lucky you. Hugs, c.

  10. Girl, you are on a ROLL. Multiple posts; multiple great looks. How cool of a backdrop is this...what's all that white? That building? It looks so interesting. You've got the eye for what works and how to photograph things; always did! SO fun. Artistic! You of course look FAB. I spied those Gucci loafers and thought, "Am I seeing what I'm seeing?" Wow, what a score. Even used on eBay, they're like $200. I may not wear the clothes myself, but I'm a massive "red-carpet designer/couture fashion" kind of gal and I do know my Gucci. I love to read about designer clothes...fabrics, embellishments; see the craftsmanship of excellent handbags & shoes. Of course, I'm been glued to Fashion Week, as we've just gone from NY, to London, Milan; now Paris, starting Monday. I drool over what's on the catwalks!

Yes, oh, the weather! I'm so grateful for it being cooler where we are north of where you are; it was only 65 degrees this morning, at like 9am, and sunny...fresh; TOO-TOO glad to FINALLY lose some of that heat & humidity/muck. And I saw two monarch butterflies on my ice plant yesterday; I stood still in a moment of heaven because I rarely see butterflies these days although we've planted stuff to try to attract them. In an even-more awesome development, the monarch joined another and they flew in unison all about my head. I figure they were rendezvous lovers. OMG, did it make my day!

    1. so much in this comment vicki. i am on a roll right?! lol that is our old train station downtown. it's a work of art. and good news we are getting the metrolink to link us to los angeles i think by 2019! i have been mesmerized by fashion week nyc and london. absolutely mesmerized. i'm loving so many of the looks. one favorite is wearing the floral dress over skinny jeans or the dress with a belted big sweater. so RL! xo

    2. Redlands sounds like such a nice place to live/visit. And, oooh, Metrolink-envy to be able to have an easy way to get to the city from my own hometown without having to drive to another town to pick it up. I always have loved seeing in movies how people live in Hudson Valley/outside-upstate of the city of NY, yet park their cars and take the train into Manhattan (shopping!!) for the day; seems easy, no driving stress in megalopolis traffic. SoCalif is a whole-other animal when it comes to public transport, though.

And wth with the weather? Went from perfect to crappy, with 20% humidity, heat and the Santa Ana winds, like in one day?!! It's 5pm and 90 degrees...feels really hot...and it's to be in the 90s for the next (at least) 7 days. Although why be surprised? This really IS our usual Sept! I'm getting a second yield on my tomato plants (I planted really, really early this year) and they're gonna love this hot weather.

  12. You look so fab!
I have four pairs of Gucci loafers in my shopping cart right now and I've been trying to stop myself from hitting the "fuck yeah" button but I think I'm just going to. I mean you got a good deal so I can splurge. Isn't that how marriage works? Grasping at straws but I don't care. I neverrrrr buy shoes, so...
I think I can cut it down to three.
    We'll see.

    1. the way i see it is that i've wanted a pair since i read in my 20s or 30s that cybil sheppard had a pair in every color. they are classics that will always be chic. does that help? xo :)))

  13. vicki, it really is the best place i've ever lived and i grew up at the beach. it's a beautiful little town. altho if i had to move i'd pick the hudson river valley. that's based on photos only! it's warm here but it doesn't feel that bad yet. so jealous of your tomatoes! maybe next year. xo
