May Days

1.  Hello my dear friends.  How are you?  I must start by again saying just how touched and thankful we are to you all.  Your thoughts and prayers are doing wonders for us both.  I feel wrapped in your love and that is just an amazing feeling.

2.  Just a quick update re Larry and treatment.  Yesterday was his last day of this round of chemo and we got some wonderful news based on his blood work.  He is responding really well to all the treatments he is on.  As I've stated before it has been a grueling schedule and I don't know how he does it.  After this coming Wednesday he will be done with radiation and will get a full month off of all treatments!  The next round will be maintenance and that will be every 3 weeks.  I can't tell you how good that sounds.  I love our doctors and hospital but we both could use a break from our daily visits there.

3.  I have been working in the garden quite a bit, mostly while Larry naps but then my allergies hit and I really have to limit my time out there.  That's ok tho because I know they will pass and I can get out there soon.

4.  I hope you will enjoy the few photos I took the other day of the rose garden.  I always get a April/May bloom but then as the trees leaf out the blooms are v sparse.  So I will be paying close attention to the sun this summer and decide just what to do with this old garden.

5.  I wish you all a v happy Mother's day weekend.

  9. Prayers Larry continues to improve and you both get some rest. My husband has been fighting MRSA for the last year and we are both worn out. We have to be tough, keep fighting and be strong for out husbands, don't we?

  21. Good to hear from you, Janet. Your roses are so lovely; beautiful bright spots of color in your garden. Glad you can get out in it when possible.

Wonderful news about Larry. It has to have helped that he was in good shape when stricken. He'd been eating vegan with you; I remember that you two were swimming. And before all that, you guys would hike in Joshua Tree.

Yes, you have a long-time audience here, Janet. We don't know you and Larry, yet we kinda do, so of course we're here for you as cyber friends.

And, oh, yes, Happy Mother's Day to you, Janet; have a nice day tomorrow; maybe there'll be a little sun instead of this cool overcast although, gotta say, I've been loving the cooler weather here in SoCalif. We know it won't last!

  28. Happy Mother's Day, Janet! What wonderful news to read...no doubt you both need some time away from doctors & hospitals. They are wonderful in what they provide, but some sense of normalcy will be very good therapy as well.

Your garden is beautiful in every way...the roses, the trees & the simple & classic decor. Gardening keeps one in the moment, so I'm sure it has been very good for you. Enjoy every minute of this next month...keeping prayers coming for you both. Godspeed!

  31. Hi Janet...what wonderful news to hear that Larry is responding well to the treatments and that he can take a month off! Also having to only go for maintenance every 3 weeks you both must be so relieved. I do believe in the power of prayer and I know so many of us have been praying for you A LOT. Please keep us posted on Larry's progress. Your garden looks great...mine has really suffered, we were so busy cleaning out my in-laws house that there wasn't time to prune my roses. Not sure what to do with them now since it's 3 months past the cut off for pruning. Hope you had a Happy Mother's Day!!

  38. So pleased for you both, Janet. This is just the news you needed. It's gruelling going through both chemo and radio. One of my old school friends went through it last year, to deal with a rare aggressive cancer and it was hard. But she's come through it well and is back at work again on her art and enjoying life again. May the same be true for Larry as well! Your garden is looking beautiful and must give you both much happiness. Hope you were able to have a lovely Mothers' Day! Warmest wishes to you both, Pammie
