It was not expensive at all. I think under $12 at Target.<br />Or maybe it was Walmart. One of those.<br />On Chowhound some say you can make the bread without a dutch oven. I think that<br />the main purpose of the cast iron dutch oven is to concentrate and retain the moisture that is released from the dough as it’s heated. <br />This simulates the conditions in a commercial oven with steam injection.
