I have 4 drawers (one is a jewelry drawer) and 4 separate hanging areas...I broke it up into tops, blazers/jackets, pants/jeans and active wear. Sounds huge but it's not!! and above and below my 4 drawers is my shoe shelves. It IS HEAVEN being so organized! :-). The only advice - be careful of getting rid of too much. I've found I just end up replacing. Now I pack away and mark the box with the date - if I don't use anything in it or visit it - out it goes. I have at times retrieved 4-5 things (that i still have!) This made it easy to let go of items that I otherwise might have wavered about. I now have a very minimal wardrobe that I absolutely love and I wear/use every single item in it (with no need for swapping out with change of seasons).
I've also applied this strategy to other areas of my life (house, computer files) with the same success.
Can't wait to see your new wardrobe.
Spud
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191490968189022599.post-55429872518778115692017-12-04T14:56:31.392-08:002017-12-04T14:56:31.392-08:00I burst out laughing over storing away summer clot...I burst out laughing over storing away summer clothes then getting hit with a heat wave. I quit packing things away years ago due to that same exact reason! I just shift things to the front of the line according to what the temp. should be. I've been really good about getting rid of clothing I don't wear. The problem here is our temps. are so drastic I have to keep remembering in Jan. come July I'm really going to wish I had that sundress. I'm a total comfort kind of a person. I kind of think I always was. I may have been wearing mini skirts but they had to be comfortable. I think tomorrow I'll go back and look over my clothing again. Can't wait to see your end result! Isn't it amusing how being organized has take priority in our lives? I nearly get to ditch something, often maybe 20yo, then I LOOK at and see it like a new garment again, and I fall in love with it all over again. So I need a bit of ruthless, the bit that stops rekindling the love.
Looking forward to seeing your wardrobes finished and filled. I long to go to my wardrobes and see the hangers spread out, as in a hotel room, and I'm guessing that's what you're going for, hence the purge. It will be interesting to see how you store things, like the bits and pieces other than just clothing. Can understand your excitement, it's looking good already.
Hugs, x.thepoutingpensionerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13484934089759704702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2191490968189022599.post-65089098009578802222017-12-04T13:37:27.029-08:002017-12-04T13:37:27.029-08:00The story continues . . . you designed the perfect...The story continues . . . you designed the perfect closet and now it is editing your carefully selected wardrobe!!!
