Simple Saturday

We are talking basic of basics here.  But you know what?  I never ever tire of them.  Give me jeans and a white tee any day of the week please.  I've yet to ever see a woman dressed in a white tee and jeans that did not look chic. It's just one of those classic looks that luckily for me fits my style.

Most days you'll find me in a version of this outfit right here.  I'll change the top, shoes and bag and get a whole different feel but Saturday is usually this.

Here are the basics of my outfit.

Classic Sunglasses

Classic Tee

Classic Jeans

Classic Boot

I've never been a big perfume fan bc of allergies but I cannot go a day without this Jo Malone Orange Blossom Scent.  It is intoxicating without being overwhelming. A spritz of this and my mood gets elevated.  I've never had that experience with a perfume before! Hands down the most lovely scent ever.

What are some of the classics that fit your style?   x

  1. So right, Janet, white t shirt and jeans will always be there. Back in the '60s a friend (male) once admired the style of a friend (female). "Jeans, white t shirt and a navy Guernsey (our traditional fisherman's sweater) will take you through life and never go out of fashion", he opined. Now in my '60s I remember those words, often, as I don exactly those very same items, which I've worn since my teens (though larger sizes now)!
You look lovely in yours and simply putting hair up with a clip can change the vibe of the outfit too, which looks great for your look. And even a spritz of perfume can lift the outfit too - shame we don't have smellovision, your orange perfume sounds gorgeous!
    Hugs, x.

  3. I'm style-challenged. But I love seeing yours, along with the backdrop of lovely neighborhoods which, unlike mine, look very well-tended.

  4. I also wear jeans 90%of the time in all seasons. I wear colored ones , classic denim -dark and lighter wash, khaki, brown, white and stone. Tops are almost any color of boatneck elbow or 3/4 tee or a simple sweater. black booties in winter, bronze sandles in summer. My signature look is a coordinating small scarf tied around a pony tail or bun or around my neck (winter only) if I wear my hair down. I have long bangs like you so the pulled back style looks great as it does on you! Simple wardrobe, totally me and I akways feel good.

  5. You are really pushing the products to sell these days. What happened to the girl who shopped at the dollar store and estate sales. I'd like more of her please.

    1. I still shop yard sales, 2nd hand and estate sales. I went to 2 estate sales this past week and one thrift. I always start there. and i'll never stop shopping the .99 store. I'm "pushing products" as you say these days because I get so many emails and requests about my clothes. Not everyone has access to great 2nd hand shopping so now I'm providing links for people who want the look but can't find it. Sorry if you don't like it but it's the way it's gonna be around here now. Also, I'm enjoying putting things out there that I really really love - even if I can't afford them. I'm not asking or telling anyone to purchase anything! It's just making writing this blog a whole lot more fun for me.

  6. I appreciate your recommendations for products you like and use. It's very helpful. I tend to be a khaki type (and yoga pants). I also wear a lot of knit tops - with a nice boatneck/three quarter sleeve being one of my favorite styles, along with turtlenecks in the cold weather. I like white, navy, grey, khaki, black, taupe, stripes. I'm not one for the "short" pants. If they're shorter, they need to be capri length. And can't, at all, get with leggings.

    1. i wear a lot of your same colors except grey. i can't wear grey, it looks awful on me! i only wear leggings to yoga these days. but i do think they are cute on other ladies. i saw a lady today who looked darling in black leggings with a butt-covering chambray shirt. glad you don't mind my product recommendations! x

  8. I love it that you are posting so often! You look great in jeans and a white t. Me, not so much but I do love the "prettiest blouse" in sage that you have posted and I like it that we can see the factory where things are made. Do you have a recommendation for a V-neck tee? It seems they are hard to find and I would like a good quality. Love your neighborhood.

    1. thank you marilyn. i love that pretty blouse. it's so me, perfect neckline! i also love everlane in general. they are so transparent with their factories. did you see the clip about Clean Denim? i had no idea! I do recommend their tees. they last and last and fit true to size. xo

I love this post because your style is so inspiring, it doesn't have to be complicated to be beautiful. And with your eye we are fortunate that you are highlighting other beautiful things too like that darling blouse. Thank you for your blog Janet I just love it.
That's it I have to try Jo Malone, I have Chanel no5 but it's too heavy for me now (even the new one), it doesn't quite give me a headache but nearly. XX

  13. I load up on white tees every season, because I love them new, crisp and white! I do find that adding Borax to my whites load does help a bunch, but they just get dingy over time. I really love the collar on yours! And, I am 100% not offended that you are providing links to products. You were very upfront and transparent about this weeks ago when your blog got a makeover. I love how you stood up for your self, but you were also very polite to M Fish.

    1. i wear so many white tee's i have to get new ones ea season. one of my favorite ways to do this is buying a 6 pack of hanes mens v-necks. i wear them around the house a lot and use them for hiking and just walking, yardwork etc. it saves my better tees from so much abuse. i've never used borax in my laundry and i don't know why? thank you for not minding the links. i swear if i didn't change up this blog i'm sure it would have just died. i feel so excited about it now. it's fun for me now. and i do feel i'm keeping true to myself at the same time. but maybe i need to write a post about it just to make it clear.:) thanks for your feedback E. xo

  14. This might be a little off topic, but i just wanted to share. We stopped for ice cream a couple nights ago and I got a second look from the girl at the counter. I asked for a soft serve twist with sprinkles (rainbow!!) and when she gave me a second look-almost like it was her fav too-I acknowledged. I've made this order a bunch of times-I won't say millions bc I don't think that's true, but many. I ordered it as a kid and I've never had to veer from it. It always satisfies. It's a classic, just like a white tee and jeans. Thank you, Janet for your wonderful posts, I so enjoy them. Teesa

  16. Lately I've been looking back at the fashion in the late 50s and early 60s, the clothes were so beautiful and everyone dressed so nicely when out in public...sigh. But you're right, jeans and a white tee are so practical and comfy. Scents react with our skin and biology so what smells fab on one person oft times is not the same on someone else. I'm a devoted fan of Ralph Lauren's Eternity , it works with my bodily makeup.
