sunday morning

This morning after our hike I made breakfast from ingredients we bought at the farmers market yesterday.  On my $1 wicker tray with a few wildflowers it was too pretty not to take a picture of.
Trust me, I don't eat breakfast like this everyday.

Hash browns made from Yukon Gold potatoes fried with green bell peppers and onions and topped with avocado
Fresh picked peaches
Jalepeno toast & coffee

Here's a little slice of Our morning hike.  I can't get the sound to work which is a bummer because the birdsong was amazing.  x

  7. Yum. Love your food posts always. I wondered what was under the avocado. Did you make the jalapeno toast (recipe?)? Who wouldn't want to sit down to such a lovely plate? I'm gonna go into the kitchen now and try to make myself something healthy.

  9. I feel as though you are writing from "the other side of the gardener's cottage". In a nut shell you are teaching us all to live with less and in the moment. The landscape that surrounds you is beautiful, and the fact that you are making a "home" in a space that isn't yours, is not lost on your readers Janet. Keep smiling, keep writing. Rosanne

  12. Can't sleep, so I am visiting you my friend.... Breakfast looks great, and you so deserve to spoil yourself with a $1.00 wicker tray that looks like something at a B&B.
My mother is the same way, gets up and moves around a bit and the same old ceral every morning, she switched her cearel a few months back for years it was shredded wheat, now it's something new, will see how long that last.
Set in there elderly ways, I am hoping I still live out my ears never in a set pattern, I want to experiance everyday differently, filled with creative passion for what's to come of my time.

I hope it was an inspiring walk/hike, filling your head with a new path to take, and all that inspired you in deep thought.

See you soon, on that mountain.

    1. Hi, thought I'd answer real quick. Hash browns are shredded potatoes fried in oil. Delicious! You can add peppers or onions to them. It makes a great vegan breakfast instead of eggs and bacon.

  24. That breakfast looks delicious. Sometimes if I have fried potatoes or hash browns, I add a side of refried pinto beans and some tortillas. With that breakfast, I'm satisfied until after lunch. The tray you use makes a simple breakfast look elegant!
