stuff...and more stuff

i've been back and forth between southern california and utah so many times in the last few weeks that i'm dizzy.

but here i am today.

a new fatigue jacket from j. crew.  they call her charlie.

it's the t shirt like lining that makes it feel like you are walking around in pj's.

and here is my new handbag by deux lux.
deux lux is sold at anthropologie, nordstrom, neiman marcus to name a few.
it is a 100% vegan line and it's hard to tell - it's so luxurious.
the days are long gone of vegan goods being made of unpliable plastics.
the new technologies are amazing.
i'm loving this gold clutch for summer.

and these are the vegan booties from steve madden.
extremely comfortable and affordable.

so that's it for right now.
i really hope to be back to regular posting soon.

    1. The USA are obvisouly THE place for vegans. I almost envy those who can simply shop vegan "just like that".

It was the same with lead-free-gas: my parents could bring their car back to Austria in the late 1970's - because there was no lead-free-gas available that time. 15 years later it beceme the standard over here, too.

Now I hope vegan infrastructures will be standard over here, too, one day!

    2. Sorry Paula, not sure where u are in Europe, but I (fellow European) don't have any problems. Lots of US shops like Nordstrom are also now delivering to poor us. And I guess, the more demand 'we' create for vegan goods, the more we can also influence the supply.

  7. Janet- Totally off topic- I have been following a vegan diet for about ten months and have felt great. My skin is glowing and I have lost 30lbs. However, my hair has recently started falling out-alot. Alopecia aereata. Do you have any experience with this or know of any correlation between a vegan diet and hair loss? Any thoughts?

    1. hi sherri, congratulations on all the benefits you are getting from going vegan. isn't it great?!

i had to google vegan/hairloss b/c i have no experience with that. i would suggest you do the same. it may or may not be caused by a sudden change in diet. so i would suggest you go see your doctor. it appears that if it is in fact b/c of a change in your diet that it is temporary. so please go see your doc ok?

      again...30 lbs! amazing!

    2. If I may chime in, first I'm a hairstylist not a doctor haha...but alopecia is mostly triggered by stress. Usually when hair is affected by nutrition or diet, it will first become more brittle before it actually starts falling out. Is your hair falling out in patches of a circular pattern? Also with all of our hair, sometimes small hormonal changes will show up in hair. And it's important to think a few months back with hair. It's not uncommon for people to have a change in their hair six months after a new prescription or even a change to an old one. Have you had any bloodwork done? I'd say about 3/4 of the time when I have a client who has been experiencing hair loss (not in a balding pattern) it is 1-iron 2-thyroid.
Again I'm not a doctor, but do have the benefit of seeing a lot of other women go through it. It's scary! You can always try prenatal vitamins too.

  8. Hi Janet! Your spring is already so lush and green, beautiful nature!
In Vienna dust from winter road sand in the dry streets hits the face with the spring-storms. Yike.

I have the feeling as if every vegan year makes you 1 year younger. Seriously!

  9. Sharp new duds. The striped lining in the green jacket makes a good contrast. Soft, satisfying color on the low boots. They're a lovely companion for the woven handbag - or pocketbook as we say down yonder.

  10. Janet, that Gramercy bag is great, has the classic duffle shape and that woven/ "straw" feel that's ideal for spring-summer. Did it come with a shoulder strap as well? I saw it in a different colour when I was actually looking at a Matt & Nat vegan bag, but can't remember.

    Stay safe on your back-and-forth!

  14. Janet,

Love all your new purchases. You are one stylish lady...that bag is gorgeous!

I literally have been dizzy, got a mild case of labrynthitis w/ my viral infection a couple weeks ago. Dealing with all the in-law stuff, not helping. Finally coming up for air and get to putter around the house today.

Looking forward to your posts in the near future.

  18. For someone who's so into letting go, moving on, downsizing, etc., you sure are into brand names. Who cares if it's J. Crew, Ralph Lauren or Target? Appparently, you do. Guess you haven't really let go. Just food for thought: can you challenge yourself to move on?

    1. OR - maybe she's just letting people know the brand so they can easily shop for the same great finds?

Some food for thought: be nice.

    3. Makes sense to me, Janet! I don't know why some need to take time to "school" others - I'm not vegan but I love your blog and if I didn't, I'd rather just let you be YOU and find another blog to read! I always learn something here - even if it's just the brand of shoes you are wearing - lol!

    4. OMG! Are you serious?! Forgive me but I can't seem to grasp why in the world you wold post such a rude and negative comment on someone's blog. It would seem that you have forgotten or maybe you were never told but just because you may think or feel something does not mean you should say it! If you feel that way then please just leave the blog instead of posting such things.

I do not know Janet personally but I have been following her blog for a very long time. She is a lovely person, has a tremendous heart and takes time to share her life on this blog. Help make the world a better place and please keep such comments as these to yourself. I thank you in advance for doing that as I'm sure others do as well.

Janet, thank you for your blog and all that you share! Have a beautiful day!

    5. We're all enjoying ourselves here, and will continue to - thanks to Janet.
I hope you find a source of enjoyment. Your blatant jealousy is pitiful.
Do yourself a favor and don't engage in what makes you so unhappy.

"For someone who's so into ..."

being offended by a lovely lady/human being ...

"Guess you haven't really let go. Just food for thought: can you challenge yourself to move on?"

And thank you Janet, for sharing your sources (brand = source, to me).

    6. I would like to point out that a majority of Janet's purchases are from second-hand stores and charity shops, so to find fault with her for giving the brand name of the clothing pieces seems terribly unkind, as she has shopped for good quality items at a good price and is reusing items that would otherwise be wasted. Also, I hardly think Payless, Target and Walmart, which are all places Janet has mentioned she has purchased from, are labels to be flaunted, but she names them, too. If she is label conscious at all, it is because she has found the brands whose clothing fits her well and whose styling suits her, nothing more. I find her blog to be a beautiful exercise in simplicity, and would suggest to you, dear Anonymous, as food for thought, wise words from our elders- if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

  19. Dear Janet - very cool "stuff" - had to think of you when I bought myself the J.Crew Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket last week as I remembered you had been looking for a fatigue style jacket since your trip to New York last year. Hope your son is doing better now
