all jacked up

j. crew chambray, american apparel chambray skirt, old leopard belt, rl sunglasses

this is me this morning, looking respectable.
so not the case last night.

yesterday larry surprised me with tickets to see jack's second show in los angeles.
i loved the first night but the second night can only be described as Amazing.  he performed with his all-female band the peacocks, and it's a wonder the old wiltern is still standing as he rocked the place and everyone in it to its core.

so when i should have been sweetly tucked in bed, i was acting like a teenager, singing and dancing in the aisles.

2 late nights in a row.
  shut up.

later today we are headed to the beach for some r&r and i've packed a bikini.
what's happening to me?

have a sweet one my friends.

  8. Janet,
You know you inspire me in many ways...to live more simply, eat healthier...I'm working on that one...but at least I no longer drink alcohol. But I must admit something...i did not even know who Jack White was/is until I started reading your blog. I'm feeling old, out of touch....but you will look fabulous in your bikini and it looks like a perfect beach day! Enjoy my friend!

  14. You gotta let loose and have fun once in awhile...
Hooray for Larry and the two night gig with Jack.
Mr. HB did that for me a few years ago but it was Springsteen and night one was in Seattle and the other Vancouver!

    Enjoy that bikini beach party!

  19. Hmmmm. Why is going to a rock concert at age 50 strange to people? Why do you have to stop or at least make excuses for doing certain things when you are a certain age? Once you stop denying yourself things that you love in life...life is over. Love your blog & loooove that your into Jack White! Rock on, Lady! Keep doing what you love and you'll be around for a very long time.

  21. I know you are going to rock that bikini out - just like you rocked the concert. You should be dancing - don't ever let anyone make you feel otherwise. In other news, I am loving your chambray/leopard outfit. It's hot and gorgeous and classy! x

  22. I'm not quite sure I get the Jack thing either but your joie de vivre does impress me. Is it me or is Jack looking more and more like Robert Smith?

  23. You're ageing disgracefully and that's why I love you! Two Jack White gigs in as many nights and a weekend in a bikini, fancy swapping lives? You rock denim & you rock life, Janet! x

  24. When you're onto a Good Thing, stick to it.

I always think Get Behind Me Satan is an excellent name. For anything really.

Wishing you and Your Seven Nation Army all the best and luff the belt.

  25. And another thing, good on you for packing a bikini. I wear one and don't care what the world thinks.

For the 9 millionth time I wish you lived here and am touched that you thought of me when Jack started thinking about the Doorbell and when he was going to ring it etc etc .

  26. "I'll have what she's having!".....stop thinking and just "do" and while you're at it, show 'em how it's done!

  28. i love still being a rocker in my early 50s and you obviously do too! my bf since 1980 is bono, and i have seen u2 many times way before they were such a big thing which was amazing. i was fortunate enough to be in the heart ellipse the last two times they came to the bay area and i am telling you, being 10 ft. away from bono, i was screaming like he was a beatle! you've got to get yer ya ya's out no matter how old you are, and music always does it for me. have a wonderful day.

  30. I completely understand the Jack White thing - when I saw him with Loretta Lynn on a music video years ago I was completely hooked! My first time commenting but I look forward to every post. Thanks for your inspiration for 50+ women everywhere.

  31. Woo! Hoo! Is there anything more fun than going to a super loud concert of someone you love, everything that you can sing to, dance to, have the time of your life and maybe a little romance to???
    I can dig it! LOL!

  34. Oh Janet~
I can tell by the look on your face that you had a wonderful time! Your body language says it all! Again, you are fortunate to live in an area that has concert venues. Midlife crisis my ass people!! I am 50 years old and I love Rock and Roll music!! I can thank my dad for that. While growing up he played Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Allman Bros. as loud as he could every sunday morning while making us kids pancakes. It is such a great memory! I'm sure it drove my mom nuts but we loved it! And as far as the bikini~shit woman if I could fit into one I would wear it while shopping at my local Safeway store!! Buy the way ladies, if its too loud ,your too old!!! Rock on~ April

  37. Sketchy internet connection, sketchy bikini, sketchy weekend! Why are people surprised when over 50's are going to concerts?

Half the musicians are even older and they're still rocking!

  40. Hi Janet. I couldn't sleep last night because I drank a pepsi during the day (to revive me while I was staining the deck) and ended up in my study looking on the computer at blogs. I came upon yours and you inspired me. I checked out project 333. This morning I got up and went thru my closet and drawers and donated piles of clothes and organized everything. I usually do this once a year, but I have to admit, I have not always had the courage to just reduce this much. I am NO WHERE NEAR 33 items. However, I probably cut my wardrobe in half and will continue to work on it. The thing I liked the most was knowing that there were some items I have been wanting to get.(2 short sleeved shirts to go over sleeveless tops). So after donating my clothes to the thrift store, I went in and looked for what I needed. I ended up with 2 cute short sleeve shirts and they both only cost me $9.17. They were both decent name brands. (I rarely shop thrift, but will try it again.) So thank you for the 2:30-5:00am inspiration. Jess

  41. Do you dress like that all day long? Or is it what you wear when you go out and about? What do you wear when you're just at home for the day cleaning and such?

    1. i did wear this all day at home and running errands. i kicked off the heels once inside the house. some days i'll wear this skirt with flats. the skirt is 1/2 elastic waist so it's super comfy. if i were going to dedicate a whole day to cleaning and gardening i'd wear shorts and a tshirt. but if i'm going out and about then i always put some effort forth. thnaks for asking.
