  1. I love both looks! Perhaps you could give us thrifting tips because I never find the things you do...or maybe I'm just not clever enough to know what to put together.

Such a lovely second photograph in which you look utterly spring like and totally at one with this lovely time of year.

  7. Oh the squirt of lemon is lovely there, I have a similar summer outfit but sans lemon, that's really a lovely touch.
Last month it was hotter than LA now it's miserable here.

  11. I love both outfits too, Janet! :) My most recent thrift shop score was brand new rain boots for two of my boys. They were only $4 each, and the boys love them.

  12. Sunglasses when it's rainy? Rather affected don't you think?
Good first outfit but the second one is rather grannyish.

  14. I can't help wondering why this Anonymous person keeps reading a blog they obviously don't care for. You'd think they would have something better to do.

Janet, I love your thrifty style posts. I wish I had your knack for finding such treasures.

  17. Dear J

Gorgeous as always. Loving the retro Mad Men vibe in outfit 2. Everyone knows that the more ppular your blog, the more traffic you get, the more weirdos with issues will visit and leave anon comments. No one with a happy fulfilled life would bother so they really need our sympathy and/or pity. I think you should delete them though. They can start their own blog if they want their thoughts in cyber print.

Kindness is never out of style but sadly either is snark.

    love me x

  19. Hmmm not sure what that comment above means?! We LOVE Janet posing in her driveway and that is why she posts these oufits for us...
And Janet you look fabulous as ever. Tres chic. Love the raincoat and the skirt and cardi combo in 2nd photo. And are they my fav. RL sunnies in the 1st photo? Still so envious of those ;-) xx

  22. It's true-when a blog is opened for comments, comments will come. The truth is, however, that negative comments are hurtful. Before we decide to give one, there should be consideration. Is it worth it for me to be hurtful? What impression will this negative comment reflect upon myself? How, then, will I feel about myself? I know we human beings sometimes don't think before we speak, sometimes slipping out uglies from our tongues, but when writing a comment, surely there is time to reflect before posting. It takes a whole lot of positives to counteract one little negative.
I believe, dear Janet, whether it's raining or not, sunglasses are good because they protect our eyes and feel nice to wear. And...just so you know...if the second outfit seems "grannyish," to some, then you're the prettiest granny I ever did see. I wonder if Grace Kelly or Princess Di or Audrey Hepburn were ever told that they looked "grannyish?" I doubt it. Classics will always remain in good taste worn when worn at any age and in any time. There's an old and good tip that remains true today: If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all."

    Both are stylish yet c-l-a-s-s-i-c.

  26. Janet,

You are a classic beauty in the way you look, dress and handle yourself. I am always impressed with what you can do with such a small wardrobe. If I didn't know your wardrobe was tiny, I would think you had a giant walk-in closet filled with beautiful clothes.

  28. I love the simple, classic look of both these outfits. I wonder if you could elaborate on how you made decisions regarding what to eliminate from your wardrobe. Did you just get rid of clothes that didn't fit right? Or ones that were worn out? How did you decide?
