how to cleanse your face like a professional

i've read that the average person cleans their face in under 10 seconds.  10 seconds!  that is fast.
since people pay me to clean their faces, i thought i'd share how i do it.

first off, i'd say that if you have a clairsonic then of course you don't have to read further.
i love my clairsonic and use one at work too.
but most of my clients want me to cleanse them the old fashioned way when they come to see me.

this is the old fashioned way.

after i have set my intentions, the first thing i do is remove all the makeup before the real cleaning begins, i do this whether i'm using the clairsonic or not.  i pre-cleanse my clients faces with a product that is really just jojoba oil and some warm water.  i remove their eye make-up first with cotton pads and then dampen their face and apply the oil in small circular movements, breaking down the make-up.  i wipe it clean with a warm wet towel and now i'm ready to start.

while the face is damp, i put about 4 pumps of the correct cleanser for their skin type into my palm and emusify it by gently rubbing the cleanser between my palms.  now i'm ready to apply it to their skin.  i start and the neck and in long sweeping upwards motions move to the chin and continue to work my way up, applying the cleanser to the entire face and neck.  once the cleanser is all applied i start back at the neck  and begin cleansing.  i slowly work my way up using small circular movements making sure to cover the entire face.  i spend extra time around the nose area and especially around the hairline.  while i'm cleansing this is when i'm doing my first appraisal of their skin.  this is when i'm feeling any bumps, blackheads or dry patches.  i actually learn a lot about your skin while i'm cleaning it.  i spend on average 3 to 5 minutes cleansing.  this may seem like a long time but it is very relaxing and it is like getting a facial massage.  facial massage is super relaxing and so good for circulation and skintone.  so when i'm finished cleansing, i remove the cleanser with a warm wet towel and proceed to my next step which is applying a toner.  some people don't use toners in between steps but i do b/c toners can catch any residual cleanser plus it helps return the skin back to its proper ph level.  you would be done now and so while your skin is damp this is when you want to put your serums, eye cream and moisturizer on.  unless your skin is extremely dry, i would avoid moisturizing your nose.  and please don't forget to moisturize your neck.  so now your skin is clean, massaged and moisturized and ready for a good nights sleep.

  1. I feel more relaxed just reading this. Thanks Janet!
I remember reading somewhere that fact about spending 10 secs on facial cleansing, as well. While I'm sure I probably don't spend 5 minutes doing it, I do try to spend some real quality time on the job, as well as on brushing my teeth (another thing most people don't spend enough time on). Wish I could come see you, though!

  2. I would love to get a facial massage...my mother says they're heaven on earth! I love to wash my face but don't put nearly this much effort into. What about cucumbers on the eyes...is that just a old wives tale or does it work for something?
Also, are you suppose to do this again in the morning?

Looks like I should expand beyond soap, water and 10 seconds for my routine! I really need to put all your advice to better use, it all obviously works wonders for you.

    1. cucumbers are great for puffy eyes sarah. i often use them in my facials during the hot summer months.

this is my nightly routine. in the morning i just use water and moisturizer on my face.

    3. Yes, really! Something about the idea of using an appliance to wash my face... anyway, my own brand of simplicity does not include eye makeup -- ever. (And godliness is most definitely NOT a goal, so I guess I'm good.)

    4. Don't you wash your face at all?

I rarely use makeup, but I wash my face every night to remove dirt, sweat, pollutions from the air... I use virgin olive oil and give myself a good face massage and wipe it off with a warm washcloth. It's very simple, environment friendly and cheap.

  4. Janet, I loved reading this and it's a reminder to spend a bit more time on such things. It doesn't cost any more money, your cleanser can be relatively inexpensive and so I think it's the very epitome of 'simplicity'!!!

  5. Oh, I have to agree. Just reading that..I'm somehow more relaxed and feel better already! I do own a Clarisonic (but I kept reading;) and I do pre-cleanse by wetting my face and eyes, using a very small pump of Arbonne cleanser to massage around my face (break down the makeup) and clean my eye makeup off. Then I use another pump on my warm Clarisonic brush and begin that exfoliating process. I only use the one minute timer and I usually feel like that is taking too long! I am so impatient.

I would love advice on how to clean and keep clean the Clarisonic. I don't wear a lot of makeup and as mentioned, I even pre-cleanse but still find my machine can get a little stinky after a bit. When I am done, I am very careful to rinse it very well, shake it out very well and then dry the brush and handle on a towel before placing it on the dock. Am I the only one?? Every so often, I end up using bleach and Q-tip to get those places behind the brush head and then scrub the rest of the device with the bleach solution. But it does seem kinda scary/weird. Any better suggestions?

    1. after you pre cleanse do you wipe your face off with a washcloth? that would really help to remove the makeup before you use the clairsonic.

i haven't had any problem with my at home clairsonic as far as keeping it clean. but at work i sterilize the brush heads. i'm not sure i'd use bleach to clean it though as bleach is so caustic. i pretty much just rinse mine and let it air dry.

maybe others will have better suggestions!

    2. I don't use a washcloth as I use the Clarisonic to complete the task. But I also don't wear much makeup, so I cannot see that being the issue. BTW, I watched some utube videos when I was trying to make an informed decision to purchase a Clarisonic (4 years ago) and I noticed some women wear A LOT of makeup/foundation and literally use theirs to wash their face--no pre-cleanse (like they're using a beige brush! Yuck.) So I was surprised when I couldn't find much on cleaning the Clarisonic. When I noticed mine got it's first, less-fresh smell, I searched for ways to clean it properly and came up with nothing. Weird. I'll have to search again and see if there's any new info out there. Thanks!

    3. Sweetsy, I use a bar of sapoderm body soap, which has an antibacterial (triclosan)in it, to clean my clarisonic if it looks a bit grotty, I have this soap ready in the shower as I love it if I have been doing really dirty work with animals or in the garden. Another alternative I have is an antibacterial face wash that would be used for pimply/acne skin. I make sure that I rinse it exceptionally well as I don't want that harsh stuff on my face. I know that there has been lots of bad things said about triclosan, but I think it sometimes ( ie.not everyday) has its place as a cleansing product.

  7. You make facial cleansing sound so wonderful, I know that your facials must feel amazing. Do you think the clarisonic can cause some sensitivity or broken capillaries over time? I am an esthetician (with SUPRE sensitive skin myself) and have wondered this, and think I have seen it happen (although who can be 100 percent sure why capillaries develop on any individual, could be a number of reasons). I love jojoba oil, one of the very best skin care ingredients, it's right for everyone.

I wonder if the the person who stated that this doesn't seem to fit with "simplisity" is thinking along the lines of facials or skin care as being vain and unnatural or something? Nothing vain about taking care of your skin, and relaxing and taking time for your self is essential for well being . . .and nothing wrong with a LITTLE vanity anyway. I know I am a little vain. Why I am sitting here with lipgloss and mascara on and why I wouldn't leave the house without my wildy frizzy hair being flat ironed (perhaps I am a lot vain, actually)!:)

  8. Several questions if you don't mind...

I've never thought of getting a Clarasonic - assumed it was an over-priced, silly fad. But I'm open to buying one if it's actually useful and superior to other washing methods. What do you love about the Clarasonic? What makes it worth the money and superior to simpler approaches?

I've always just used Cetaphil to wash my face. Now I'll at least go a little slower! I've hesitated to use stronger cleansing items or anything else on my face. Do you frown on this method?

    1. i think a clairsonic is a wonderful product esp if you don't get professional facials. i love that it does such a thorough job of cleaning in such a short amount of time. you almost feel as if you've had a good facial in a minute flat. like i mentioned above, i don't use mine every day but i think it is a very useful accompainment to my regular routine. if you are worried about sensitivity then you can get a sensitive brush to use. there is nothing wrong with the method you are using, esp if you are happy with the results. that is the most important aspect that only you can answer.

    2. I've been using mine for about 4 years and I have very sensitive skin so I also use the sensitive brush-head. I would only add that it is a fantastic exfoliator and I believe that my products are better-absorbed. I have many friends that also use their Clarisonic nightly and they LOVE it! I've never heard a bad thing about one.

  10. my method is lots like yours, but i will give it even more mindfulness after reading your post.
i use olive oil, warm water, a washcloth, and a clarisonic mia {the small one} to clean my face.
i don't wear very much make-up, but i take it off first with lots of warm water & then an olive oil "massage", followed by a very gentle warm wet washcloth.
i use my clarisonic 3-4 times a week, with just the remaining olive oil on my skin.
i follow with a really rich moisturizer {amazing face} because i live in a dry climate & tend to be dry without it ♥

  11. I love cleaning my face in the evening with Eve Lom cleanser - a lovely rich cream and a muslin cloth, massaged in and then washed off with the cloth first with handhot water and then final cold rinse. So relaxing! I have a shower every morning and confess to doing nothing more than that for cleaning my skin in the morning. Like cleaning my teeth well, it is just a little ritual that reminds me that it is good to take care of myself and well as all the others in my life. I have never been into facials, but had a wonderful one the other day and think some regular ones might really make a difference? Bxx

  12. Hi janet, you are so right: the cleansing is like a facial massage. I am sure your's feels heavenly.
I live in a country where clairsonic is not available, so I use a shiseido brush (by hand) together with a sensitive foaming cleanser.
What would you say: how often should I renew the brush? It's pricey, about 25$.
Should I clean it with a brush cleanser?!?

  13. Hi Janet,
Thank you, thank you for posting this! I wish I lived near you so I could get a facial. I am a makeup girl! I wear everything including lipstick & bronzer everyday. I've read your previous post on what products you use and was wondering if anything has changed? What product do you use to remove the makeup? I currently use Clinique and was wondering if you think Dermalogica is better? (I have really sensitive skin that tends to breakout so I use their Acne line.)
Also do you have any recommendations for super dry skin that's not on the face? I have used AHAVA for years, but have been hearing lately that maybe the chemicals it contains are not the greatest.

    1. to remove make-up i use pure jojoba oil. i apply it when the face is damp and then use a warm, wet cloth to remove the make-up. right now i'm still using the dermalogica ultra calming cleanser. it has a good rating from the skindeep website, it's very gentle and i get it at a good discount. i have no experience with clinique so i can't comment on whether one is better than the other. i use olive oil on damp skin for my body moisturizer and absolutely love it. it's the best moisturizer i've ever used.

    2. Janet, Just went to the skindeep website AMAZING! I picked up some Dermalogica and tried it this morning. I'll keep you posted on the results. I'm also really enjoying the knowledge other ladies are sharing!

  15. I have both the Olay Pro-x and the Clarisonic. The Olay Pro-x is very inexpensive. I sensitive skin and am fine with the Olay brush.
It is not as powerful as the Clarisonic and is about half the size and the motor isn't as powerful. I wind up using my Clairisonic half the time and the Pro-x the other half. I use one or the other 2x a week. For the last 9 years--since i had some work done on my face - I have gone for regular skincare
sessions every 5-6 weeks. I have a big investment in my face and I'm not vain. I take care of my body and I feel younger than I am so I want a face that goes with my body. Is that vain? I love my esthecian and my skin
looks so much better with regular care. I get lactic acid or glycolic acid or liquid retin a. My esthetician also does dermablading on me.
If I could say one thing to young women - it's take care of your skin!! Stay out of the sun, keep your skin clean, exfoliate, moisturize and go
find a great esthetician for regular skincare treatments.

So don't buy a Clarisonic. But let those that want one or already use one continue on. It's as "simple" as that.

    2. @ Ms. Simple Anon:

Clarisonic doesn't require batteries... so unless you are trying to live without electricity, I guess that makes it pretty simple.

And I doubt it even uses much electricity. It charges up pretty quickly, and seems to last for a week or two (or maybe more, depending on how often it is used, and for how long).

And, even if it runs out of a charge, it can always be used as a brush. I don't have overly sensitive skin, so when mine has run out of charge on vacation or something, I just use it as a brush with my cleanser.

Anyway, I simply love mine! ;-)

  20. More questions :)

Do you advise against using regular makeup remover? I currently use Aveda's, and I've also used other brands like Lancome. I'd happily switch to oil if the regular stuff is hurting my skin. Can I just put the oil on a cotton pad? I haven't used regular wash cloths in ages.

Also, does the skin really get that dirty?? In the mornings I just rinse my face with water. In the evenings, I quickly wash with Cetaphil and sometimes I'll use makeup remover on a cotton pad in the rare event that I've worn a lot of eye makeup. Sometimes I use toner, and the cotton pad usually is clean. Generally speaking, my skin doesn't seem all that dirty and doesn't seem like it needs much more scrubbing. Am I wrong? (I'm guessing I'm average - don't claim to somehow have more pristine skin than average women.) Is there tons of dirt that I just can't see that really needs to be scrubbed off with tools and with many minutes of washing?

    Thanks for sharing your expertise!

    1. i do not recommend against makeup remover, i prefer to use jojoba oil as a precleanse in my facials. often women come in with a full face of makeup, foundation, powder, blush, shadow, mascara and lipstick. that is a lot that needs to come off and a precleanse is best. if you came in w/o any makeup on then i would not precleanse. to precleanse with oil you would dampen your face and apply the oil directly to the skin and work it in and then remove it with water and a cloth. your skin does not need "scrubbing" and if you don't wear a lot of makeup then you don't need to precleanse either. i think washing with cetaphil in the evening and plain water in the morning sounds like it is working for you. my post today was me sharing exactly what i do in a professional cleanse. if what you are doing works for you then i wouldn't mess with that.:)

  26. I too loove my clarisonic and use the delicate or sensitive brush. I mentioned above that I use an antibacterial soap or facial wash to clean it if it looks grotty or "greasy". What is your take on the facial cleansing wipes as a pre cleanse (not in your line of work but at home), they can just go in the bin- when using them there are no cloths to wash. I have used them a couple of times to take off my makeup after work then later have a really good cleanse with the clarisonic in the shower.

    1. Julie-what is your diet like? Do you eat a lot of dairy? People post on Dr Mc Dougall's website all the time about how their breakouts stopped after getting off dairy. Processed foods and dairy are the worst things for your skin. I think Janet has posted about this before.

    2. Julie- I agree on the dairy, but I'd also have your doctor run a hormone panel.I've been dealing with skin problems since I was 10 also only to find out some of us don't outgrow it no matter how meticulous we are about skin care. I found out just 2 years ago that I had an undetected case of PCOS. I didn't have any of the usual symptoms with the exception the skin issues and massive weight gain during pregnancy even though I was vigilant about what I ate. Now for the past 2 years I've been going to a Compound Pharmacy to get things balanced out. I feel wonderful, my skin looks so much better. I have rare break outs, but my doctor said this would be the case.
I wish you luck, as I really do understand the heartache that bad skin can cause. I believe that is what the nasty person who is criticizing Janet anonymously doesn't understand. This post really speaks to some of us. Its unfortunate that their life is so unhappy they have to try to take someone else down to their level. 3. Julie - I had to reply to your comments (and I believe there is another commenter here who has the same issue) because I have had nothing short of a miracle with a product that I found two years ago. Just like you, I started having acne at puberty and it never ever went away. I simply could not believe that I never grew out of it. At each new decade, I would think: okay, once I'm out of my teens....OK, once I'm in my thirties.....okay, surely now that I'm over 40....and then there I was approaching 50 and still having breakouts. I have a very good diet, exercise, etc and take excellant care of my skin. Have tried every single product under the sun. Dermatologists too. So I had pretty much resigned myself to this. But I heard of a website - Acne.org - and tried their regimen. Certainly not expecting anything different. Let me just tell you that now that I use that regimen, I have had maybe 2 spots in 2 years. I sound like some sort of cheesy ad, I know. But this did change my life. I get kind of teary to this day even talking about it, because I never knew what it was like to have clear skin ALL THE TIME. It's such a little thing, but it isn't. Anyway, I couldn't not say something about it. You might want to take a look at it, as one option. Sorry for the long post!!

    5. Seashoreknits-I went to Acne.org and was wondering what products you use?

      Delete
    6. Dorothy - there are only 3 recommended for their regimen: a mild cleanser, a very very mild benzoyl peroxide treatment, and a mild moisturizer. I use all three. Even though the site makes it very clear you do not have to use their products (and even offer OTC substitutes as recommendations), I find it easier and less expensive to use their products. It's how you apply these products that is unique; the important part is following the regimen exactly. The other thing I think is key is that their products are very good (pharmaceutical grade, and mild, etc). Please let me know if you have any other questions!

      Delete
    7. Thanks Seashoreknits! Have you tried lemon? I saw that on there yesterday so I decided to try it last night since I already had that in my house. I've been concerned for a few years now about long term usage of topical acne meds. Janet's suggestion of Jojoba oil is something I'm going to try also. Thanks again for the website.

    8. Haven't tried lemon - but I did neglect to mention I also use jojoba oil!
Acne.org recommends it highly - and it is wonderful just as Janet described here.
I use it occasionally mixed in with my moisturizers on days when my skin feels a bit dehydrated. It is wonderful (and I can't believe I can actually put oil on my face!)

  30. This is so helpful Janet! I've been thinking abut getting a Clarasonic and now that you've endorsed it I'm getting one for me and one for Mad! And I adore the photo..."I like it clean"...that's from a movie...I can hear the voice...I have no idea which movie or whose voice. Wow, this is so ADD of me!

  31. Hi Janet,

I'm so glad you did this post, I was just thinking yesterday I wish I could talk to Janet! I feel like Julie, here I am 54 and still breaking out, thought I'd be done by now...damn menopause! (and stress too)

I purchased the Clarisonic Mia about 6 weeks ago. I just switched to the delicate brush head about a week ago because I heard it was better for acne prone skin. I also use it every other day because I read every day is too much. What is your take on that?

Also, I heard your skin goes through a "purging" period with the Clarisonic. Do you know how long that will last?

I have to say though, I DO see an improvement in the overall appearance of my skin since using the Mia. So maybe I just have to give it more time.

    Thanks!

    1. i don't know about a purging process but b/c the clairsonic exfoliates gently you would be seeing some additional breakouts and also some clearer skin. i think another couple of weeks of use and you should start seeing great results. i would suggest a gentle acne cleanser with it too linda.

    2. Thanks Janet! Is there a certain acne cleanser you could recommend? I'm currently using Peter Thomas Roth w/ Beta Hydroxy Acid 2% acne wash (mostly after workouts) and Cetaphil. Sometimes I think the PTR is too drying though.

    3. linda i highly recommend aveda's acne line. i've seen it work miracles. they have a acne moisturizer too that balances out all the drying.

  32. P.S. What is up with these "anon" comments lately? (not just your blog)

You live the most "simple" life of anyone I know. OMG, who said you were Amish anyway?

  33. Hi Janet
Thank you very much for sharing your expert tips with us. Although I spend more than 10 seconds cleaning my skin at night I can definitely do better and am really keen on trying jojoba oil. But I haven't got a clue where I might find it. Where do you buy your jojoba oil?
All of us loyal readers know that you wouldn't be buying a Clarisonic if it didn't deliver the goods. I wish those nasty anon commenters would spend time doing things to improve themselves rather than using their time to vent on your blog.

  34. Janet,
Because of you, I pulled out my Mia clarisonic last night and started using her again. My face felt great. However, I had gotten a little lazy and just used my purity (philosophy) without it. Thanks for the push I needed. I love your photo of the sink. I kinda miss seeing the roses. They are beautiful. And, I really don't like the rude anon comments. Really messes up the cool dialogue thing around here. Have a nice evening!

  35. Hi Janet,

Like almost ALL of the commenters, I loved this post! It’s so great that you’re willing to share your expertise with all of us.

I don’t think I’ve ever commented on another commenter before but I’ve about had it with people who leave negative responses to a blogger who puts time, effort, and thought into sharing information with readers, asking for nothing in return. I HATE that people can hide behind “anonymous” and leave their nasty or tasteless comments for all to see. What is the point – if that’s how this person gets their kicks, pretty pitiful!

    1. Trolls discovered 'design' blogs years ago but have only recently come to The Gardener's Cottage, it seems.

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[3] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Thus, the expression "Do not feed the trolls" and "DNFTT"

  36. Hi Janet
I'm 65 and people say I look like "40 something". When asked what I do, I really have to say I think it's what I Don't do! I have never worn base makeup as I've never found one that did not cause my face to break out. I don't use commercial night creams as I think some may block air the skin needs to breathes in. If my skin feels dry i may apply a light non oily spf cream. But, like you, I faithfully cleanse my face - with mild soup or a combination of sesame oil and baking soda. I also massage my face and neck with sesame oil until it is fully absorbed in a manner similar to your cleansing routine.. then i rinse off any residue with warm water and go to bed. like a few others, I'll use olive oil if I'm out of sesame oil. But sesame oil is the ancient Vedic formula for regeneration. I love your blog and thank you for this inspiring post.

  37. Hi Janet,

I'm new to your blog and love it! I have learned so much from you and was wondering what kind of SPF you use. I have given up foundation and love it! My skin is improving since going natural. I currently am using Purpose SPF but would like to know what you recommend.

  40. I have rosacea and unfortunately, 5 minutes of rubbing would damage my face (even just using your fingers) and irritate it beyond belief. Is there no hope for rosacea patients? And Clarisonic would destroy my face!

  41. As Anon, I also meant to say that I can't even rub my face with a warm, wet washcloth, that's how sensitive it is with rosacea. Also, even if I very gently pat my sweaty face with a very soft face towel after a workout, my face burns. So -- any advice for the rosacea sufferers?

    1. oh my heart goes out to you. have you been to a dermatologist? i think that is where you need to go. i know people who have responded really well to antibiotics taken in pill form and also applied topically. that would be the best advice i could give you. i wish i had more to offer you.

  42. Hi Janet, I love your blog though I never comment. :) But this post was extra-timely for me. I turned 50 last week, and decided maybe I should do something about my skin. :)

My real question though...is what should I be teaching my 8 year old daughter about caring for her skin? I am pretty clueless. (She is Hispanic, beautiful brown skin, but dry with some eczema issues.)

I was raised on a farm (I'm Germanic white, fair skinned), as was my momma, and I was never taught to do skin care. Neither was my momma. :) I must say, my momma looks 50-ish although she is 79. I, too, think maybe it is what she didn't do.....I never saw her wear base makeup of any kind, rarely anything else either. I think she may have used soap and water a few times, I don't remember any kind of moisturizer.

I hate the feel of base makeup or powder, so I dont wear it. I use a bit of eye liner, mascara, blush and lip gloss. My skin care has been hit-or-miss, I try to use only very basic and natural ingredients. I have had some acne issues, which seem to clear up when I keep my hands away from my face, use simple handmade goat-milk soap and water, and a light moisturizer. (i picked something up from the healthfood store, cant even tell you what it is... :) I'm taking notes from your post, and from all the comments above. I just bought some jojoba oil and will be experimenting with that.

I would dearly love to give my daughter more instruction in caring for her skin than I recieved, so she can avoid my mistakes. Any suggestions you might have would be welcome.

    Blessings!

  43. Hi Janet, I love your blog but rarely comment. :) I loved this post, as I just turned 50 and have been thinking maybe I should be tending to my skin a little more.

My real question is: What should I be teaching my 8 year old daughter about caring for her face and skin? She has beautiful brown skin that tends to be dry and has some eczema issues.

I was not taught how to care for my skin growing up, and as a young adult became fed-up with $200 skin care regimes that I couldn't afford. I hate the feel of base makeup or powder on my skin so avoid them. I do use a little eye liner, mascara, blush and lip gloss. I only used water on my face for a very long time, lately because of some acne issues have added a rich handmade goat-milk soap and a light moisturizer i picked up at the health food store. After reading your post and the comments above, I am adding jojoba oil. Maybe I will try witch-hazel for toner?

Any suggestions you could provide on guiding my daughter's skincare from girl-hood to adult-hood would be greatly appreciated.

    Blessings!

    1. i think the best thing you can do for her is to put sunscreen on and teach her good grooming habits. that being said, she is only 8 and just a kid so she will probably learn more from watching you take care of your skin. as far as the eczema is concerned, she should probably see a dermatologist and have it looked at. i hear re the expensive skincare routines, there really isn't any need for that.

  45. I have asked many esthetician's what is a good cleansing routine and what type of make-up I would wear. Most if not all of course recommend the product they are using or selling. I like that you don't try pushing your product line on someone.

So I have become a product junkie. You tell me it's good I will buy it.

But now after reading your blog (which I so enjoy) you seem to be the most honest person around. So my question for you. I am 58 with normal skin type. But I have pores on my face that are really starting to bother me. I do use a primer under my makeup but it is starting to feel like I have SO much stuff on my face.

Can you offer some suggestions. Sorry this is in a post but I could not find any other way to contact you. Thank you so much for all your advise.

    1. as far as pore size goes (i'm guessing it is the size of your pores that are bothering you) there is nothing, absolutely nothing that can be done to reduce the size of a pore. there are products that will temporarily close them but it is a temporary fix. what i'm about to suggest may not be what you want to hear but it's the truth. since there is nothing that can be done about the size of the pore, you are going to have to accept them. that being said, there is nothing more beautiful than clean, healthy skin on a woman that accepts herself. if you have a good clean diet, get lots of fresh air and sunshine everyday and make peace with your skin, i'm telling you that in itself is a beautiful thing. love your skin - own it! stop putting layers of product on that probably, in the end, magnify the very problem you are trying to hide. after your cleansing try a light foundation with your spf in it. start getting used to seeing yourself with less make-up on. i honestly do not believe people will notice your pore size, what they will notice is clean, radiant skin on a confident woman! this is what i advise all my clients.:)
