sweaters and football

today we are watching football with friends so i have to get dressed.
i think this is perfect and cozy for such a day.
someone is going to have to pry these boots off me when i die b/c i wear them everywhere with everything.
 it's ridiculous.

some people have a problem with wearing second hand shoes and i understand that.

when i get a new pair of old shoes i wipe the insides with rubbing alcohol and let them dry.
and if the footbed is just awful, then i buy a new comfy one.
dr. scholls makes them and target sells really nice ones.
they run about $5-7 which is usually more than i paid for the shoes.

also, if the shoes are a little too tight, you can generously spray the insides with hairspray and quickly put on a thick pair of socks and squeeze your foot in and walk around for a bit.
the shoes will stretch out and conform perfectly to your foot.

and while i'm here why don't i answer all the questions about karen's house?

1.  the sconces are from pottery barn

2.  the sofa is an ektorp from ikea, the slipcover is sold separately.
i think they are perfect for rooms that don't get tons of use, like karen's living room.

3.  i am not going into the decorating business b/c i'm not a decorator but i would love to do organizing b/c i am an organizer.

  1. Hey cutie, We were just saying how BORED we are with football this year because our teams aren't doing so well.

Except for the Ravens and the DETROIT LIONS!!

Omg, in my nicotine withdrawal delirium I've turned this into a football rant.

I'm sorry. I like your sweater too.

  6. Perfect fall outfit. I'm so enjoying the rain today.
I have an ektorp with white slipcovers in our living room that doesn't get much use (pottery barn sofa in family room). Love the ektorp! Enjoy your Sunday!

  7. Hi Janet, Bob asked me what I want for Christmas and I said "Brown Boots!!!". You've inspired some great thrifing outfits on the cheap. By the way, your hair doesn't look gray to me. Does it grow slow??? Allegra

  9. Janet,
Love your outfit...simple really...but still you look gorgeous...I think it's your poise.

Okay...never heard of the hairspray trick...but recently purchased a pair of Bass loafers, (I copied you)...they are so pretty and even at full price, quite a bargain...but they are so stiff. I hope it works! have a beautiful Sunday.

  11. I love those boots too!
I seldom find second hand boots...they are so popular that they must get snapped up as son as they hit the shelves.

  17. Thanks for the shoe tip. Can't wait
to try the hairspray on a pair of
snug shoes. How about those Green Bay Packer's?

  18. Aren't you looking smashing! You are the poster-gal for vegan eating and yoga (and thrifting). Go you!

  19. Your boots are so pretty. I've never seen such a unique pair and they look like they are made for you.

  20. Who takes the photos, Janet? Your Hubby?

  21. You should be a model for going vegan! Your figure is amazing, especially compared to the vast majority of American women in your age group. Maybe we could drastically reduce animal suffering if more women thought they could look like you :)

  22. I agree, you have a sensational figure and can wear anything beautifully. looove those boots.I can't do thrifting, the smell in the shops here does something to me and I can't cope.

  24. You look so great, I love your sweater too.

I wish you could come and organize my house. The garage is the worst. (at least we can park my car in it) I keep saying we are going to have a garage sale but I'm ready to just pack it all up and take it to the Goodwill. And to top it off my husband is clearing out his parents garage and bringing it to ours to sort and get rid of! :(

  27. You always look marvelous!

    Today's NutritionFacts.org video-of-the-day
says they found that nearly half the U.S. meat supply is contaminated with staph bacteria, and that turkey appears most likely to harbor contagion.

  28. It's interesting that the living room/the couch does not get tons of use. Where do we live these days?

  29. I've been reading your blog for a few months (found it through danibp's link) and I just have to say that I love your style so much. You know exactly what suits you and you just exude elegance and class. I love your personal style and find myself checking over here to see what you are wearing. Thanks so much for showing everyone that you don't have to spend a fortune or be a 21 year old fashion blogger to look fantastic. (Although you do look like you could pass for being in your 20s).
