my yoga room

Contrary to popular belief, California does have four seasons. Lovely, lovelier, most lovely and the loveliest! We are currently in the loveliest, which is spring. So my yoga practice moves outdoors into my side-yard which I refer to as my yoga room or meditation room. The room is completely enclosed in bamboo making it very serene and private. It is green year-round (except for the grass) and very shady. Prior to my simply stopping shopping, I would have gone out and purchased a new yoga mat that would have matched this setting better. Something green, definitely not the hot-pink one you see. I've had this yoga mat for at least 7 years and there is nothing wrong with it so it has to do for the photos. These are little lessons I'm learning, accepting what I have as "good enough."

  1. Hey Janet, I was out in your neck of the woods this weekend and the weather couldn't have been lovelier. I am in AWE of your yoga space...how dreamy, you're inspiring to get back with my asanas after a long hiatus.

  2. Hi Janet, when I don´t understand a word or a comment I just copy the text and I paste it on "Google translator". This isn´t perfect but it helps.
I hope I have helped. Kisses, Ana

  8. Your Yoga room is very Zen...and if it is warm weather it must be very conducive to the practice.
I have an old Yoga mat as well...I look at the new ones as they are thicker and come in very appealing colours but mine is good enough!

  11. Hi Janet! To say this is a pretty spot, wouldn't be doing it justice! I can just imagine how peaceful and tranquil it must be to be alone there surrounded by the curvy trees. It must do your mind good to spend time there! I only I wish I had a hidden secret place to escape to! :)
You have such an amazing yard ~ have you ever thought of putting a daybed in that area? I don't ever think I would sleep in my house again.
    Have a wonderful day!
*I think the pink adds some vibrant energy!

  12. what you have is amazing! a cottage and a garden is exactly what dreams are made of.
I first thought your garden is the one towards the road, with the new plants and the wooden bench. Now I see this part ... breathtaking!

  14. Janet,
Love, love the "Yoga Room"! The humidity here in Georgia would make it less than meditative...unfortunately. Love the idea of a true cottage lifestyle.

Bye the bye...don't know how I "happened" upon your blog. I tend to click on interesting people and places and I guess that would be you! LOL

  18. Janet, this room seems to breathe serenity. The walk from the house to the room is a perfect transition for body and mind. As for the pink yoga mat, I am all for using what you have on hand.

In answer to your question about life and gardens, yes, I do think change is the one constant. We must learn to go with the flow or get pulled down by the currents. Sometimes the more we wrestle and fight, the harder it is to stay above water. Have a good week.

  20. Just found your blog and I love it! Your yoga space is so nice, makes me want to pull my mat out and head for the back yard. I'm a California girl myself living in the Modesto area. I'm also a vegetarian, working on being a vegan. Skinny Bitch changed my life...just bought The Kind Diet. It's good too.
