it's the little things

after almost 2 years we finally added closet doors to the only closet in the house

this is what the closet looked like after a major clean out

our neighbors were getting rid of these and they fit perfectly.

next, i polished the chandelier

added some garden roses

& a RL plaid blanket for warmth.

chez loulou

imagine if this was your front door...

I

Now imagine being tagged by a fellow blogger to show some favorite blue items from your home. So you step outside and take these pictures of your village.

This is the life that Jennifer Greco lives. Jennifer, aka chez loulou, used to live in the US but moved to the south of France six years ago. She works in France as a chef and her blog is a beautiful collection of her photography, recipes, and musings on her life there. The pictures she posts on wine and cheese alone makes her site worth reading. But it is so much more than that. Her photos capture a way of life that I can only dream about. Please do yourself a favor and click over and immerse yourself in all its beauty. I do daily.

menu monday

Starting today I will be posting my weekly dinner menu schedule. Mostly to keep me organized. I plan my menus the week before according to what's available at the farmers markets. I try to eat 100% vegan but occasionally will eat eggs that my friend Sarah gets from her next door neighbor. I try to be what I have heard referred to as a "gentle vegan." Someone that will eat the food that you have prepared without a big fuss made over dietary restrictions. Anyways you will see that we pretty much eat the same things over and over again. So here is what's on the menu for this week.

monday
mushroom risotto cakes
european greens w/apples & cranberries & walnuts
~
tuesday
black bean tacos w/guacamole
~
wednesday
stir-fry w/tofu, broccoli, peppers & carrots & brown rice
~
thursday
black bean & brown rice tacos w/peach salsa
~
friday
roasted broccoli & walnuts w/pasta
european greens, sugar plum tomatoes & dijon vinaigrette
~
saturday
nicoise salad w/red bliss potatoes, green beans and artichoke hearts
french baguette
~
sunday
potato & leek soup
toasted baguette slices
Edited note: I have decided to give up eggs completly since Dec. 09. Yah!

pink

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I searched my picture file for pink images. This is the prettiest image I found. It is a vase of beautiful pink peonies in the newly renovated bathroom of a country farmhouse . Trina's whole house is just gorgeous. I don't think she will mind me using this image to promote such a good cause. Visit her website today to see all that she and her husband have accomplished. It is very inspiring.

In loving memory of Becky Hutchison
