my closet pt. 2

So yesterday I emptied my closet. I should mention that I share this closet with my husband. I went through the contents, item by item and decided what to keep and what to get rid of. In order for the item to stay it had to meet the following criteria.

1. I have to really like it.

2. It has to fit really well.

3. It has to be comfortable.

4. It has to fit my lifestyle.

I have always wanted my closet to be pared down but at the same time full of things that I love and that fit well. I like classic clothing. I don't like fussy things. So this year my goal is to only buy things that meet my criteria. I don't know how this will turn out, I'll keep you posted. Living in a small space is a challenge but not impossible. It's nice to have only what you use.

  1. I really need to do that. We have so little closet space in our cottage. I am still painting!!! Connie

  2. Hi Janet, I so agree with you! I've purged my closet so many times. It always feels better to keep the stuff you really love and use. I always bring my things to a cosignment store so there's a little (not much) compensation as an added bonus.

  3. That's a pretty impressive goal, Janet! My poor little closet is stuffed to the gills with things I hardly ever wear. I know I'd feel like a great weight had lifted if I emptied it and started over!

  4. That sounds like a great plan. If I threw out everything that didn't fit really well I think I would probably have a couple outfits. Good luck!

  5. Hi Janet, thank you for visiting my blog, I will also come back to yours many times.
Some day I will get rid of many things from my closet, too.
Excuse my english, I speak spanish and it´s hard for me to express myself as I would like.

  6. I'm with you, sister! My daughter, now in college, is so good at doing this. I did recently purge and now I barely have anything left. I'm hoping to stop at some thrift stores this weekend.

I love your blog. Do you mind if I do a post linking to you? (And love emersonmade...holy heck!!).
